@SG TRD, Yes that camera is compatible with the FRAC Harness. Any 12 volt automotive camera with an RCA video output will work. A lot of guys have installed that camera on their TRD Pros.

As Jim said, there is a video in the first post of this thread. I also provide written installation directions once your order is paid and shipped. You can also PM me for any specific questions.

Hey Lou. @TundraTex Any luck getting the dvr installed in the system? Seems like it would be a nice add on.

Thanks Rustynutz, the picture made for a quick install with the same rocker switch.
Kept my nutz from getting rusty sitting in the seat with a multimeter.

Another successful FRAC install. What an awesome upgrade to my truck. As stated above somewhere, if you buy the same camera be sure to cut the white wire NOT the green wire as the instructions that come with the camera say. 2FA2CBC5-F26B-4A7F-B58D-6275172F4012.jpg

I have the same camera and cut the wrong wire! They need to fix their instructions! I’m switching to a PRO grille like yours soon, did you drill a hole for the camera and just put the nut on the topside?

    Hi.
Like all the posts on the FRAC Harness.

I'm looking for a front add on camera plus a camera up on the top of the cab (for hooking up gooseneck trailers), and another in my horse trailer plus I'd like to add the AV input (saw your posts on quality etc).
    What I was wondering is:

    i) if I added the AV addon's ( something like https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00QGRFJN4...olid=2HUIT85HTSMX1&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it ) that are supposedly plug compatible on the 28 pin connector, would that fit in between the FRAC connector and HU allowing me to have the AV input and keep the FRAC functionality?

ii) has anyone got a dash mounted switch for more than just going between the front and rear camera? I would have four potential (front, rear bumper, rear cab top, trailer (which won't always be attached). Presumably a
'keep it simple' approach would be to have the three addon (Front, Cab, Trailer) RCA camera plugs accessible with an extension cable from the FRAC harness so one could switch them (eg plug in the camera desired) around as needed for a particular trip.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks
    John

Yes. I just drilled a hole. Pretty easy actually. Good luck.

I drilled a hole in the bottom row of my grill, but I only am getting half of the coverage because half of the camera is just picking up the bottom chrome part of the grill. I need to take the grill off and fabricate some kind of bracket to get the camera farther forward and/or higher up. Is it hard to take off the grill? I have a 2018 CrewMax with the honeycomb grill. The install that I did previously I did just by reaching through the access hole. I scraped my arms up pretty good. LOL.

Could you make a tapered washer to change the angle?

Taking the grill off is not difficult. There are several YouTube videos to help you out.

If you watch the videos on removing the grill then I might add that if you take a long screwdriver and push down here one side at a time

The grill comes out very easy.

Thank-you ZPMAN, sometimes I'm in such a hurry I didn't think about that. One thing I do is when I know I'm taking the grille off the next day after work to do more work, use heavy zip ties and lightly put the grill in without snapping in. Tie one on each end on the top were the black plastic push down holes are and around the metal part. This will hold it without having to even use the upper 10mm screws.

Do you recall what size nut you used for the camera bolt? I don't recall seeing one included in the box when I got the camera. Started the install last weekend, one of the RCA connectors was bad and wouldn't send the feed unless you pushed it into the harness and held it there. So going to splice it with a replacement.

@TundraTex I was trying to find how to mirror iPad/iPhone with it as one of your posts mentioned it. I couldn't find it in the instructions though, am I missing it somewhere?

Truck is at the dealership for other things so will be finishing up this install this weekend. And REALLY glad I saw the part about cutting the correct wires in here. Dodged that bullet for sure!

The other day I got a bunch of error messages - Trailer Brake Malfunction, Cruise Control Malfunction, Pre-collision System Malfunction, and Check Engine light. I just left the dealer and they couldn’t figure it out. They are convinced it is the FRAC system and told me I had to remove it before they would go any farther. So tomorrow I need to uninstall my FRAC system and then take it back so they can find something.
Has anybody with the FRAC system had this problem?

Is there 'one' fuse that disables the complete entune system...and wouldn't that potentially eliminate that system from the issue? I don't believe that 'entertainment' system is tied into those systems. Wonder what they would say if you'd put in a android friendly system. Certainly the truck runs without those codes when the Toyota 'radio' dies.

Yes I got all those errors when I forgot to reassemble the grill 100%. I didn’t have the covers on or the wiring hooked back up. Once I completely put everything back together it worked together fine

@Bappa, I have not heard about this issue before but it seems unlikely the the FRAC Harness would be causing it. The harness only ties in to video and power. You might check your TSS grill emblem sensor and make sure it is properly reconnected.

Please keep me posted on this.

I never disconnected it. I never took my grill off. I wiggled my arm through the small access hole to install the camera.

I just took the entire FRAC system out; harness, cables and camera. It is completely stock for my dealership appointment tomorrow. When they still cant figure it out, I’ll try not to say I told you so.
However, I f this is going to be an issue every time I need warranty work, then I’m questioning whether I’ll reinstall the FRAC system.

This looks like exactly what I am looking for. I'll need to get it installed as I have no mechanical or electrical prowess at all, but a front facing camera would make parking much easier in a tight spot. I will need to do some additional research and find a place to get it installed, but I am very excited to find something like this is available!
