Awesome thanks. I haven't ordered it yet. I wanted to see if it was something I could tackle on my own.

Ok I figured out a mount for the 18 honeycomb grille. Drilled a small pilot hole in the plastic tab behind the emblem and used the little wood screw that came with the 90 degree bracket. Home Depot sells the bracket in the hardware isle. D88ADEFB-2905-47B9-840E-95FBC0D3DBC1.jpg 803F87C1-D369-4F0E-8129-761E2E057440.jpg 11797113-D334-486C-9835-B3FBADBBA81D.jpg

I'm ordering up the FRAC this evening. Is there anything else I should be doing while the stereo is out? I really don't want to tear into the dash more than I have to. Things that I want to do (but can't afford right now) that may require pulling the dash apart would be an amp & speaker set up, painting or plasti dipping a few chrome pieces and adding some under hood and bed lights. Thanks in advance.

I would do the plastidipping while you have it apart then. That's actually cheap to do. I get not wanting to take it apart multiple times....so save up for the rest and do those all at the same time. That way you're only taking it apart 2x

I'll be looking for your order!

As for the stereo amp/speaker replacement, you don't have to remove the Head Unit to do that work. Check out my Audio Build or a host of other audio build threads here on the forum for more info.

TundraTex, with your experience and what you've seen, will the camera you bought and listed work easily for a 2018 Tundra with TSS? Looking for the simplest mounting solution.

I don't think you want to get the camera that I bought. My camera is designed to fit inside the open Toyota logo on Non-TSS grills. I would go with the camera and mounting approach used by @DarthMurdicide in post 966 or @ProtoJ in post 996 above. You can see the links to various cameras used by others in the product link window at the bottom of the thread page.

I wanted to do the plasti dip, but @TundraTex managed to screw that up for me. He managed to get the harness delivered to me faster than I could remember to buy Plasti Dip. My desire to get this thing installed is overpowering my want to ditch the awful 'wood' trim and chrome atrocities in my truck.

My better half has asked me to make myself scarce tomorrow morning on account of her friends coming over. Maybe I'll see if I can get this installed then. How much time should I expect to spend on this if I don't paint or Plasti Dip anything?

@TundraTex Thanks! I'm going to love this.

I would guess 1 to 3 hours, depending on how familiar you are with these type of installations. Let us all know how it turns out!

I'll give it a go in the morning and report back.

In my kit, I've got 2 of the same switches, each with 3 prongs out back. Which 2 prongs do I use for the green wires?

Have had the FRAC in for about a month now, invaluable for a long trip across the US (Tennessee to Montana), I can actually park the beast like I need to. Older brother was in agreement that it should be factory installed...he will be ordering one when his new Limited arrives this spring...

Yes. As we discussed, follow the directions on page 6 of the FRAC installation manual. Connect the blue cam switch wire to the circuit you want to use for the forward camera and the white switch wire to the circuit you want to use for the Rear Camera. I suggest installing a blocking diode in the white wire circuit as shown in the directions to avoid any voltage from feeding back into your relay module. The red switch wire needs to be insulated and not used if you use your switch panel. The red wire has 12 volts on it whenever the ignition is on, so be sure to tape it up or otherwise insulate it well.

I've been "FRAC"d, lol. Took longer than I expected (mainly cause I didn't want to break anything). To be honest, the process isn't hard, just the mounting of the camera and getting the wire through the rubber nipple is what takes the longest. Took me an hour to get my mounting set. Will probably adjust it later or remount the camera now that I know how it looks and the angle (crazy, initially had it mounted upside down). It's not in the center of the grill, I used the existing screws. Used ProtoJ method with a corner brace from Home Depot. But very happy with this mod. Thanks TundraTex.

Just to update: I had a switching delay issue with my frac harness ( 1st batch made ). Discussed a few things with Lou and was able to solve the issue without much trouble. @TundraTex not only stands by his product, but is a good human being. Buy with confindence!

Has anyone done a backup camera switch mod on an entune head unit with "eagle eye" 360 degree view? I tried to add a switch in the backup signal line and it just makes the screen go blank, not showing any of the cameras.

If you have a camera that gives you an eagle-eye view, you can definitely plug it into the FRAC Harness for an anytime view.

This is the factory 4 camera system that I'm talking about, 2017 Rav4. I tried the "anytimebackupcamera" harness and it did not work. Grounding the reverse camera signal wire makes the screen blank, not display any of the cameras. I see that the Frac works on 4runners and Tacomas but the anytimebackupcamera harness does too. Was just looking for confirmation before I drop the money on it since I'm already out one harness. Sorry to muddy up your thread with non-tundra stuff! Thanks!
