Just some stuff there I don't like that would prevent me from trying them. Not a vanilla, peppermint, or lemon fan. Generally not a fan of heavy frosting on cookies. Thin layer, I'm down, but I want to taste more than the pure sugar of frosting.

 

IDK, but I'm definitely craving cookies now!

 

So, you never really followed up on these. Or I missed it.

How were the shows?

 

Good. I was just catching up in here. Wish we could post videos, but I don’t utoob.

Friday night show started at the first album and up through the most recent they did 1-2 songs per album but most were more “deep cuts” that they don’t play much in concert (including Fixxxer that they’ve never played live).

Last night’s show they did similar format, but started with the most recent album and worked backwards. And they played all the big hits (except they didn’t play Blackened or For Whom The Bell Tolls at either show). The show last night was one of the best times I’ve seen them (it was my 8th time). Friday was good, but last night they took the roof off the place.

In the airport this morning, I’m wearing one of my concert shirts and getting my belt on after going through security. A guy comes up and taps me on the shoulder and reaches out his hand and I was like “huh?” thinking I dropped something. He drops two guitar picks in my hand from the show. Turns out he was a videographer that was there taping and said they usually give them a bunch of picks afterwards and he likes to give them to people he meets later. So that was cool.

It would’ve been nice if they’d played a little longer (they played about 2:20 at each show) but hey - they’re getting old! And it was hilarious to see how many of the fans were wearing hardcore sleeveless jackets covered in patches, and had readers on to see their cell phones!

 

No. Freaking. WAY!!!!!!! I love that song and I've always wanted to hear them do it live, but didn't feel bad they didn't play it either time I saw them because they NEVER play it live. Made it easier to take. But now...

That's awesome! Definitely sounds like it was a good time. I'm bummed you can't share the video, but I don't either, so I understand.

Did you go alone? Family, friends, or coworkers attend?

 

The only way to get tickets was to be a Fan Club member, then win a lottery draw to be able to buy tickets. And then it was a max of two tickets for either Friday, Sunday, or both shows (same seats). I brought my wife, since it was her 5th and 6th times seeing them.

If you’ve got Amazon prime, they streamed both shows and are supposed to be doing a restream of them sometime soon. I’m hoping they also offer up a download of them to those of us that were there (they’ve done that in the past).

I do have prime, but didn't even know about the show until you posted. I have no social media beyond this forum, and I don't seek out a lot of stuff. I wouldn't have known their last album was coming out except my brother told me. I'm a hermit.

I've lost track of how many times I've seen Metallica. Was too young for the And Justice for All tour, but seen them every time they've come thru Seattle since the Black album. Somewhere in the 8-10 range. Took my son to Metallica for his first concert about 3 years ago in the Seahawks Stadium and it sucked. They just stood on stage and played. The clowns around me had no energy so the entire experience was dead. Pretty sure I'm done paying for their shows...I haven't bought their past two albums and although I rocked the Black album and Reload when I was younger, I've officially entered the "Anything After Justice Sucks Donkey Dick" club.

 

Too each their own. I haven't listened to their latest album much, but I've listened to everything prior to that... except And Justice For All. I don't really care for that album. They were my first concert and it was right after St. Anger came out. Fantastic show, though I do wish I could have caught them when Jason was with them. That's the era I grew up with, so I like it.

I might have been willing to go to one of their shows about 10 years ago if tickets weren't more than twice as expensive as any other concert here at the time.

I'm in the same club.

 

But Metallica's songs are twice as long as anybody else's. You should be willing to pay more.
