It wouldn't have been so bad if my wife didn't think we needed two strollers plus a kid carrier. (We only have one kid.)

I move about the state a fair bit, and I like the mountains. At my elevation I know a turbo would help, but I don't feel like my current truck is struggling to do what I ask of it. We'll see how she reacts once I get a bed rack, RTT, gear in the bed, and hitch up the trailer with one of the RZRs on it... Might change my tune then. Even still, I think I'd just supercharge it. I don't want to get into stuff that requires a bigger truck. It's all more expensive and I've spent enough money!

12 nights, four locations. All near water…one bay, one ocean, one river/reservoir and one lake. One location is in the foothills.

The carrier for real hiking trails, the Thule jogging stroller for easier trails and the crappy little fold up stroller for sidewalks and shops when we go into town.

The jogging stroller is fairly wide compared to the cheap one. But she's been taking the jogging stroller into stores anyway so maybe I'll convince her to leave the other one at home next time.

Man, I don’t miss those days. Normal stroller, small “portable” stroller and then the kid backpack. Giant box of diapers, a year supply of formula, all of the little bugger’s clothes…just for a weekend

And then when you have TWO in a stroller at once, you really have to get creative...

Solid plan. Shows integrity as well. If the changes don't look like they are happening, do you plan to leave, or will you let them know you've gotten attractive offers elsewhere? It might light a fire under them to implement the changes. Kinda depends on if you like the company/people you are with or if you are in need of a change.

You know, I’m not entirely sure yet. I know I could go back and ask for more money but that won’t solve the issues at hand. This other comp offered Monday - Friday and never have to work a post again as well. I told him I need a few months to see if my current employer will do right as they mentioned…I need to give them that opportunity. I’ve learned before, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side

Smart. The whole "If it sounds too good to be true" bit comes to mind. It could be an amazing opportunity, but so could staying where you are. If they really want YOU and not just a body to fill the position, they'll wait. That gives you the opportunity to present the situation and offer to your current employer and see if they can match it. If gives you time to see if the other company has good projections for job security, benefits, etc. Definitely stuff you have to weigh and measure on a personal level.

Ya the plus side is, is I don’t need medical as my wife works for Kaiser and we don’t have to pay for medical for the family. Co-pays are dirt cheap too. I do have 401k, Vision and dental with my employer. My employer means well, but sometimes it’s more stress than it’s worth. Constantly having to check my phone when it goes off and I get self-induced anxiety attacks. I’ve never taken a day off since I’ve been with them (Nov 2020). By day off, I mean zero calls and zero text messages. (I know I can’t control emails). They are working on a solution, but they also really care about my hourly guys which is a big pro for me. They’ll never refer to themselves as “corporate” (which I’ve also done, and miss at times…at least no anxiety attacks on the weekends lol).

I went to the greener side a couple years back. Worst decision I made made for thid client. Still worked 70-90 hours per week for a lot more. Just wasn’t worth it

More pay is good if you're underpaid for your skills or market conditions. More pay otherwise likely means you're going to have to work more/harder. Or there's more risk.

I think one of the biggest lessons you learn as an adult is exactly what your work/life balance is. It's different for everyone obviously and the balance can change as you age and start families. I stopped chasing the rabbit a few years ago and am much happier for it. I still push myself and continue to grow, but not at the pace needed to keep up with the ladder climbers. A guy I was basically equal too about 5 years ago just made executive where I work. Crazy to see how our paths have diverged. Not sure he's spent much time with his two young kids...that's the price you pay.

True. From what I gather, Sean is in the underpaid part of the equation. If the pay bump can come with no additional load/stress, then it's a good thing. That, or workload needs to decrease to a livable level.
