My closest call to date... I think that larger tank is moving up my list.

That's what I'm hearing, something to do with keeping the in tank fuel pump cool.

I think so, I filled it up and it only took 22 gallons.

I haven't been keeping tract lately. When I first got it, the dash cluster counter was telling me about 14.5. Lately it's been showing around 11, since the addition of those soundly headers. I'm keeping tract by miles and my next fill up I'll compare to see how accurate the counter is.

The furthest I've gone was a fillip of 24.7 gal and the needle was way past empty. I was definitely thinking I was going to have to walk. Nope 1.7 gal left.

Needle on E line from my calculations is right around 4 gal left. The light comes on with ~6 gal left

It is good to know moving forward. A few previous times I had it under 10, but then never paid attention to what I was adding. Good to know though!

Pretty much every tank I run it past the fuel light. It comes on with at least 6 gallons left so its not exactly going to leave you stranded to run past it. Most i've ever put in has been 22.8 gallons on several occasions. With the piss poor mileage, I like going as long as I can between fill ups or I'd be filling every 3 or 4 days of normal driving.

So at work there are a few primary spots I back my truck into. These spots are more of a secluded area and are covered by multiple PTZ cameras.

I'm leaving work and noticed an adult male behind my truck and was walking away after he observed me coming towards him...I made contact "is there something I can help you with?"

(Puts his hands up) "no, I don't want any trouble."

-ok, why are you near my truck?

..ends up being a Toyota enthusiast and just got a Tacoma PRO in white.

So hose it off and call it a day? I'm not tracking at all.
All I see with my Tacoma is adult males eyeball fucking and peepee touching my truck daily. They told me Kings pull bitches...it's wrong. Pulls bros day in and day out. Just hit them with the squirt bottle and proceed about your day.

What was your deciding factor(s) in choosing the KING shock system/setup?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you're not on TW very much. I have...what some would call "a lot" of experience with Kings (and fairly significant experience with the rest of the big vendors). I'm also a judgmental and opinionated asshole. So with that...take this as a grain of salt:

    1) Linear/progressive valving. Nothing would piss me off more than buying thousands of dollars in shocks and have it ride like shit when I drive around town (slow shaft speed movements). I've literally spend tuning DAYS trying to make a digressive shock work well both on and off road. It's a fucking nightmare The guy that thought that digressive valving (Icon) should be put on a truck should be put in jail...oh wait...he is in jail. :rimshot:
    2) Shock body finish. I live in Tahoe. Road salt, mag chloride, and general shit all over the roadways is the winter norm. SAW has the WORST finish out of all the vendors. Fox IMO isn't far behind. My fox bump stops had completely rusted bodies in less than 2 years. Meanwhile my Kings are going on....shit...5 years now and look dull at worst? Only vendor that has a better finish are ADS. They do a ceramic clear coat over the normal coating that is the bee's knees.
    3) Support. King is awesome. They pick up the phone every damn time, help every time, fully exploded shock diagrams available instantly on the web, provide free tips and tricks with tuning, and just are all around good people. For the record, ADS and Icon are also great on the phone. Fox...when they pick up the phone they know their shit. I'm not sure SAW has a phone.
    4) 7/8" shock shaft. Seriously. 7/8 of a fucking inch. Even on the cheap shit.
    5) Bronze wear band. Not some cheap teflon shit like Fox or Icon. ADS also uses bronze.
    6) IMO...the strongest valve shims on the market. Having broke more than one Fox shims in my history...I'm a big fan of whatever the hell adamantium type metal King uses compared to Sandvik.
    7) Aluminum resis...because fuck rusted Fox steel resis
    8) Aesthetics. Nobody can argue the sexy blue finish.

Sounds like ALL VERY good reasons. And you were right, I'm not on the other website. My Tundra purchase was my first truck purchase and first Toyota purchase. Totally happy to this point. Also my first forum ever joined too. Love it here! Thanks for your well spelled out explanation. :) I'm a firm believer in things passed by word of mouth and others first hand experiences! Thank you!

Don't forget about the judgmental and opinionated asshole part. Any cronie has their reasons.
All the vendors have their merits, but you asked why King. Someone could say why ______ and I could reply in jest. Don't take one internet asshole's opinion if you're in the market. Plenty of others out there. On the other hand...this internet asshole will give you valving and tuning tips for free dollars. :humble: :cookiemonster:
