Can anyone tell me where this event will be taking place exactly? Knoxville Chilhowee Park or somewhere else?

I was also quite surprised and honored to receive the “Top 5 Tundra” award. There were a lot of nice trucks there.

Ok, you opened Pandora's box with that question :)

This is their new Condor Overlander RTT which is a side opening clamshell tent with an aluminum case. Both @GODZILLA and I ordered one of these at the same time, we can both attest to the following. BTW, we greatly discuss this in his build thread.

    • I like the concept of this RTT. It's an aluminum case on a compact side opening tent. Design
    • However it suffers significant design and quality issues.
    Design Flaws
    • They included a clear vinyl window in the roof. While this seems nice for star gazing the reality of it is impractical. I am very experienced in marine canvas and vinyl windows and there are standards to follow. A) You never sew vinyl in the roof and B) There is a standard to sewing clear vinyl with canvas to prevent water seepage. They did not follow this standard. My first camping trip with this tent had rain and water came through the middle of the tent like a faucet. I have since fabricated a "rain bar" that attached to the inside top of the tent that keeps the tent rood in a "A" fashion to help water drain off. Otherwise water will pool and come through the sewing holes in the rain fly.
    • The rain fly is physically sewed to the tent canvas material. So if the rain fly needs replacing, it requires an entire tent canvas replacement. Note: They sent me an entire canvas replacement since my rainfly was leaking water.
    • The gas struts holding the case were too long thus causing the case to open too much and would not allow the fold out floor to lay flat in an opened position. Note: They did send me replacement struts that were an inch shorter.
    • No Anti Condensation mat. The tent needs an anti condensation mat which they do not include. They claim there is no room in it when closed, but I have added a marine grade anti condensation mat with no problem. They wen t cheap in my opinion.
    Quality Issues
    • This tent is manufactured in China and suffers major quality issues.
    • Aluminum metal shavings galore inside the tent. Required a lot of detailed vacuuming.
    • I had a awning pole bracket that was installed (riveted) backwards. I had to drill it out and re-install
    • Gas struts were too long.
    • floor support strap was not sewed in.
    • @GODZILLA had holes in his canvas caused from the fold out ladder
    • Dents in the flooring caused by the fold out ladder
    • Overall , you can tell it was manufactured by a manufacturer that just didn't care.
    Customer Service
    • While there were some significant issues with both mine and @GODZILLA tent, I was able to come to an agreement with RoofNest to correct / supply / compensate for the issues.
    • @GODZILLA had major issues with their customer service. Long periods of silence for various reasons but still unacceptable. His issues were so severe that he ended up getting a refund and had the tent shipped back. He has since placed an order the the new iKamper mini v3.0.
    Final thoughts
    • This is purely my opinion with no facts behind it, but I feel like RoofNest is a very small outfit that simply re-sells a white labeled tent from a manufacturer in China. I have no idea how much say they have in design and /or quality. However, this RTT suffers major quality issues. While I have not seen an iKamper up close, it may be a better pick since it is made in South Korea. Also, if you have the funds, an American made RTT may also be a better route.

BTW, just to give you a reference for the interest in the ‘22 Gen 3, there was only one at the event. A red SR5 that for all intents and purposes was ignored by most. Heck, it was so isolated that I didn’t even snap a pic of it.

did I spot an Ikamper in one of the photos? What did you think of it ?
