For anyone not wanting to do the install I had a local shop do it for me. Install took them 2.5hrs and their labor rate is $88. The guy doing the install said it was super straight forward he just took his time because he didn't want to have to redo anything. Total cost $220

Hi Guys.. I received my trans cooler kit the other day.. Can't wait to install it.. I want thank Nick for setting this up.. My trans temps have been running around 200f here in the flat lands of Jersey (with no cooler).. Definitely a good idea if you are going to keep the truck for a while, IMHO... Thanks again, Nick.

For those about to install their kits, I updated the instructions a couple days ago to clear up a couple steps.

Don't hesitate to shoot me a email if you have any questions.

I am installing my transmission kit. I am at the point of putting the Hayden in. I have this black looking wrap that I assume is to wrap the hose that goes behind the cooler for heat protection. Problem is with it wrapped around hose and trying put the orange clamp around it is impossible. Please advise. I am guessing now that I just clamp the hose and then cut this stuff and put in between.

Do not clamp the hose with the spiral hose around it, it will not fit. After the hose is clamped with the Adel clamps slide the spiral hose protection around the portions in the picture below. The reason I include the spiral hose protection in the kit is to give piece of mind that the hose will not rub against the bracket and cause abrasion.

thanks Nick. Yeah I figured it wouldn’t fit. Just didn’t want to get to far and then have to take the cooler back off. Now to the finish line.

If you cut the hose correctly and tighten the fitting while maintaining the hose where you want it, the hose will not be close to rubbing anywhere.

Almost finished. One more question. In the instructions where the hoses connect to the cooler. It looks like a plastic piece where the clamp is located. That will be my first picture. My last is what I have left. I think I can just push the in the connector to the hose clamp and I am done? Just asking. Sorry not sure if I am missing something.

The fittings in the pictures are a different brand than what I provided with your kit. The fittings I have on my truck just have a rubber cap on the end and are just for looks. Slide a clamp on the hose and push the hose on the fitting (add a coating of atf inside the hose) than place the clamp over the fitting and snap in place.

That’s what I thought Nick. I have OCD so I double and triple check everything and combined with the age and health issues I don’t accomplish anything fast.

I’m still debating adding this to my 2020. I’d probably be doing the install myself. Would it be possible to install the thermostat last? My thinking is if I have everything but the thermostat installed I can drive it if needed. Once the thermostat piece goes on you have to finish or it’s undriveable

i too thought about going this route. my only concern would be dust and road debris (as minor as it would be, unless it rained - that could get messy) could get into the hardlines unless they were protected / sealed off somehow.

expecting my kit to arrive later this week. was going to lay everything out on the table, re-read the instructions for the 50th time and then decide my plan for install.

i am sure that i am overthinking this, but i like to have a game plan before starting any project, no matter how large or small.

believe it or not, checking the final level after completion is really my only concern. i do have the veepeak odb / fusion app w/ upgraded $10 toyota package. confident in my ability to properly check temp.

now that patrick has stated that he'll be doing an install vid soon. i may wait another week or two check out his install prior to performing my own.

I would install everything and just have dealer hook up thermostat and adjust oil level. I don't wanna mess up a 6000$ transmission

Why would you trust a dealer to do trans fill. It just isn't that hard. park on level, have temperature between 99 and 111F when slow stream level is correct. Even if you added zero transmission fluid it wouldn't mess up transmission. Truth be told add 3/4 quart your done. You are well within spec. thing holds 13 quarts? I did mine and it took 5/8 of a quart. We are installing the identical system. When you remove the spacer plate very little drips out, enough to lube your hose connections. then you have the rubber hoses and cooler. So if you want add the volumes up or just add 3/4 quart. I installed 1.5 quarts, and .75quarts drained out when setting the level. I had to back truck down driveway and drive back into garage and thermostat was pinned open so that should have purged all air out before I checked.

Kit on my 2020 CR Limited. Went for a solid 40 minute ride with 70/30 Hwy/stop and go. Convertor never got over 220 and pan stayed between 185-188. Well done Nick!

Now I am questioning myself. I put the level on my actual pan, not the frame of the truck, due to it sitting angled down on one end. Had the pan perfectly level. Truck was not level.

If i am keeping my tundra I will have to purchase
This kit. To the OP poster, how does your product compete against if i were to take my tundra to a dealership and they agree “to install a kit in my tundra?”

ref #23,41 my literature what do those
Numbers mean? Why are they all different when indicating a
    Hot tranny?
