My Dad must have lucked out. His 2019 double cab trd off road has the external cooler on.

Stock 19's don't have a trans cooler. you might have it confused with the cooler on the lower part of the radiator, which unfortunately is only a power steering cooler. :(

How long did it take you? Haven't watch the videos yet but not looking forward to ripping off the bumper.

Bumper removal isn't required, only need to remove the grill. At least that's the way it was when I installed my kit last summer.

    That's good news!

How long was the install? I'm going to set aside an entire Saturday, that will leave room for running to the auto parts store or HD if needed.

Set aside 4 hours max. Ensure you have all the tools required for the install. There are .pdf instructions on my website as well as a YouTube video by a fellow user. Although he has a different kit I no longer sell, the plumbing install and ATF level check are the same.

I started around 10am and finished around 5pm.
I got lunch break for 1h and went really easy.
It includes a test drive of 1h to check leaks.

The longest part for me was to remove the skid plate and put it back (that you may not have if you don’t have the PRO trim), easy job but just long by the number of bolts.
If you have all the tools, this is a plug and play install, I would rate 3/10 on difficulty level.
I would say the « hardest » part is to fill up+level with new fluid if you have never done it before. It can become messy quick with the fluid but that’s it, everything else just fits in its place.

Yeah I would recommend that you don’t feel the need to rush it .. it’s always when you don’t have time that something goes wrong :)

So it most definitely has an external cooler on there, but he got the last 2018 on the lot at the end of 2019. I always thought he had a 2019 but I was wrong.

Just make sure you know the exact procedure for getting the transmission fluid back to the proper level. That's the part that some have difficulty with. It's not something you want to guess at.

Great thread and lots to learn. Just ordered the Veepeak scanner so I can check temps. I plan to pull a 4,500lb travel trailer so I think this cooler setup is in my near future.

I ended up putting in my Setrab kit this afternoon. Like Jmn said, not hard, but is time consuming. It took me close to 5 hrs and i still need to put my skid plate back on in the morning. Definitely a couple tight spots to work around, but if you take your time and aren’t in a hurry, it’s not that bad. Fit and finish is fantastic and definitely looks factory.

Be careful you don't leave the gauge displayed on your phone for long periods of time. It will burn the image onto your phone. I can still see my gauges on a white background.

You're the man, thank you for the write-up. It looks like the 30° and 45° fittings work out perfect and run directly to the holes in the air deflector. This is totally personal preference, but you can break the 10mm nut loose on the back of the horn so you can adjust the horn down. This will give it a little more clearance to the bracket. All in all it looks great.

Anyone installing the cooler going to do a UOA so we can get a history/database of how the ATF faired prior to their cooler install?

Clearance lights, Light bar in front bumper, Ditch lights, CB Radio, AGM Battery, SLEE Sliders,
Has anyone considered adding an additional canister spin on filter to one of these systems?

Additional filtration is typically not a bad thing however there are a few things to consider.
    Is additional filtration necessary?
Is there a benefit over just increasing oil changes (oil changes for transmission)
With changing a inline filter, there will likely be fluid loss. meaning, you wouldn't avoid doing a pan oil level check. So is there really a benefit?
Additional para static drag for fluid going through in-line filter. The OEM system was design for a trans cooler, but not tested with additional restrictions.
A clogged inline filter could cause starvation and create catastrophic trans failure. What would the maintenance interval be to guarantee this doesn't occur?
If Toyota didn't include one from factory, I think following the recommendation change intervals as the minimum requirements would ensure max life without adding an additional failure mode.

I wish there was a thread with Blackstone results on trans fluid to compile information regarding fluid life, particulates, maintenance intervals, etc.
