Ripped the cab off, turned it upside down, and only minor injuries. Bad situation, but good demonstration of the safety of a Tundra.

As the other firefighters/ first responders can attest, after 16 years of doing this I'm still amazed at crashes we go to where patients have only minor to no injuries. There's been many accidents we arrive on scene to where we think there's going to be a fatality and ends up with minor injuries. Most of today's vehicles do their job of basically exploding parts everywhere to dissipate energy, and airbags and other safety features inside do the rest.

I get the feeling the last thing said in the cab of that truck was, " buckle in kid I'm preparing to make the jump to light speed" :D

I was just talking with a coworker about the same thing. You have things like this, where people walk away, but the crash that killed Dale Earnhardt didn’t seem that bad at all.

What a luck driver he spent all his nine lives. Truck can be fixed with a bit of JB Weld, then list it an eBay.

    Stop texting people!

You'll end up scratching you truck or worse, yourself!!! It's not worth it.
Eyes up and on the road, speeding gets you cut in half pretty fast.

I assume the tree he hit was made of vibranium or something. Either that, or the red badges weakened it somehow.

I go to about 2-3 of these a week. The driver needs to take the cotton out of his butt he sucked from the seat and sit on the front row at church on Sunday.

You mess with speed, momentum and mother nature and you will lose 99.9% of the time.

Ive seen 6 inch small oak trees kill people dead..... and only have a few pieces of bark ripped off to show for it.

You will only dance with the devil so many times until the music runs out.

Glad he is ok and hopefully he wont have to experience that again.

I have hours of dashcam footage from Houston freeways of people completely oblivious to other drivers because they are on their phones. From texting and video calling to actually watching youtube videos while driving. I'm debating whether or not I should install a train horn... I bet that would get their attention.

Rode behind a guy for 30 minutes while observing him reading the newspaper propped against his steering wheel. Smooth road with light traffic. Doing about 60mph. He had a bit of swerve going on but stayed in between the lines.

guess it proves sweers correct in the strength of frame.
maybe this truck had the body mounts replaced under the bed bounce recall and tech forgot to tighten them.
