Does anyone know if the Tundra redesign will be in the 2020 or 2021 model year?

The word on the street is 2021. At least a partial aluminum body, V6 w/turbo and and some portion of the engine electric to increase mpg.

Supposed to be released late in 2020 but it will be a 2021 model. Do you want to see the concept of it?

I'm still getting emails to take surveys about it so I'm assuming there is still a lot of work to be done.

That's good to know. I just wanted to be sure the new model would be in 2021. I am going ahead with my plans to trade.

It’s going to be lowered, with 24s, have a chase rack and have spikes on the fenders. 2CC59F4E-BD02-4A06-A52D-B890DBA440FA.jpg

Nah the spikes are aftermarket, Toyota just made the spot for them. I think you can get them from Acme Inc

Obviously this isn’t the next gen tundra. But it’s a sharp looking wide body lowered Tundra Build. He just finished this build. 9FB524D3-91FD-4557-ACE9-CFC38C2F75E4.jpg

I’m sure this is the direction Tundra is going. Seems practical if you want to crush the competition. 53E8A9B6-CA20-4546-B4A5-278060C4CF06.jpg

From what I understand, 2021 will be the complete redesign. The truck will be introduced at one of the auto shows in the first quarter of 2020. First part of the third quarter dealerships will be taking orders and you'll see them on the showroom floor between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2020. As far as design changes go, the only thing I know Toyota is working on is a turbo charged V6 and a partial aluminum body. There's rumors of a hybrid option, but it's not set in stone.

I'm not sure how I got started, not sure if it is because I signed up for something or if they got my email when I bought my truck or what. They send a survey every so often sometimes it's about how you like certain parts of the truck. HVAC, etc. Sometimes it's silly stuff like how often do you open and close your doors each day. When I first started getting them, it was more along the lines of how do do you use your truck or what is important are different things to you. Offroad, towing, etc.

Personally I believe there is a big change in the auto industry now and its happening as we speak. I would almost have to say that one of the big three will be purchasing Rivian or try to and Toyota will be coming out with a similar truck along with a conventional internal combustion motor one hopefully for us diehards. Trump did let the cat out of the bag at a brief news conference after talking to GM's CEO and said they are converting over to electric autos. I think the biggest drawback of the electric autos would be in the battery life and as technology creeps forward they will become lighter and longer lasting. Who would not want to have 750+HP over 10,000 Ft pounds of torque along with over a 400 mile range in a truck made by Toyota. Just my 2 cents and I have been drinking agian and wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Electric cars are at least 5-10 years from being mainstream, certainly for trucks. The biggest thing for trucks is towing things long haul. Towing reduces range, and long haul means many stops at charging stations for 30 mins to an hour.

10,000 ft-lbs a isn’t real number, but maybe 1,000 ft-lbs. 750 hp at 0rpm is going to be fun no matter the vehicle

Personally I can’t wait until they shove more technology in vehicles like Tesla. Things like heating up the car in the morning automatically, auto-steer / traffic autonomous modes, better infotainment, stuff that Tesla has that nobody else has. Sure a lot of it is gimmicky, but that’s just because it’s new and not widely used yet
