Not sure why you think that. OEM is gonna be $700+

$2k for the materials they list and a lifetime guarantee seems like a fair price to me.

Also, who else makes upgraded axle assemblies???

I'm assuming these are stock length at that price. I wonder what the LT premium is.

Just look at the tacoma axles. I believe LT assemblies will be $2400 or something like that

    Ah yes. Very good.

    Are you carrying spare(s) currently?

I mean, sure. It seems you're looking at this from the opposite perspective we are. Yes. For most on here, these are overkill. Most on here don't carry spare axles in their truck. Straight road goers need not apply here.

Yeah I just put together a spare OEM with LT axle assembly and I'm working on a storage solution. I also carry inner and outer cups in case I need to limp out in 2wd

This isn't a debate between OEM and RCV. OEM are pretty strong, but if you need more then you literally have zero options besides RCV. If you feel you need the upgrade then you have to decide if you're willing to pay for that upgrade.

"overpriced" doesn't apply here since you have nothing to compare it to

Are you confident enough to leave the spares at home? I hate carrying an entire other truck worth of parts.
I haven't busted a front axle yet, but there's really nothing out here that would put me in a position to blast one. But I'm headed back west soon and will probably find myself in positions where that's a possibility.

I busted an outer on a fire road in Sequoia last year. 65k miles. I was doing a sharp turn and the cage fell apart inside the joint. I got lucky and the outer cup was intact so I was able to hold the wheel bearing together. I pulled the axle, stuffed a rag in the diff, and finished the trip, 450 miles to home in 2wd.

So now I carry spares haha I can survive two blown axles with the full assembly and spare joints I carry

But I'm also the guy who carries 2 full size spares, wheel studs/lugs, fluids, belt, all tools, etc etc

I guess the worst out here is some tight sugar sand on a trail or a mud hole. I absolutely abhor mud, so you'll never find me in one of those.

you're carrying some pretty standard stuff. I carried an alternator and water pump in my old Bronco.

I've blown 2 driver side shafts. I keep buying low mileage from salvage yards for around $50 shipped. With a lifetime warranty and being able to go as hard as you want in 4wd, the price seems worth it to me.

No I'm not questioning your credibility, I just like seeing badass trucks.

I was just curious how cheap they are to make and how much we're getting ripped off.

Nice! What are you running the 4" on?

Does this mean our axles can handle those 3-4" lifts without those silly diff drop spacers that just tilt the front diff forward? Always wondered if those do more harm than good by messing with fluid levels when tilting.

Been curious about that since lifts over 2.5" everyone talks CV axle life. Subbed to this thread for that reason. Wondering if a stronger axle like the ones in this thread would be the answer? Or if even needed?

According to RCV they are a solution for "higher angles for lifted suspensions" You'd have to ask them what kind of angles they're talking about.
