Interesting... I would be interested to know if these are actually in use by HPD and what the final upfits looks like; neither of them have any additional communication antennas added (at least not visible).

The top one is definitely the budget build with just T3s on the side and nothing more than Cannons for rear lighting; after installing Cannons on one of our departmental vehicles, I wouldn't want to trust just 4 of them to be the sole protection in a road-side or blocking position

I've got pretty good spotting police vehicles from a distance even if they're unmarked. I would never suspect this haha

These setups are most likely Officers personal vehicles that they are using for secondary jobs, namely road/highway construction

Meh, I'd rather see tax dollars go elsewhere than upgrading police vehicles to Tundras. If they need to be upgraded then I'd like to see how the cost compares. What purpose would the bed serve? Would they be picking up road debris on I-45? If so, then I'm in. Also, as if people have a hard enough time finding Tundras as it is lol.

This is 100% personal vehicles... there is zero tax dollars being spent on this guy's.... calm your titties. These are officers personal vehicles that work "off duty" road construction jobs.

Ok.....I don't know how "more clear" it can get that these are personally owned trucks..... but being prior military I understand explaining things so that even the lowest common denominator gets it. #1 zero tax dollars spent on a personally owned vehicle, (this means that the government/ state/city is not spending money on someone's personally owned truck. #2 An officer/officers did this, once again to their personally owned truck, in order to work a road construction off duty job (an extra side job for extra money. Some jobs require a police officer and need working emergency lights for the job). #3 Calm titties mean not jumping to conclusions about tax money being spent, (this means you have sound, normal reasoning skills and can figure out these facts on your own). #4 Sometimes poking the bear is fun :boink:.
In all seriousness... I'm only giving anyone a hard time that offers it. Bottom line is zero tax dollars spent here!
    Also......Merica!

In spirit of this thread...I saw some sort of rural patrol division in Ector county (Midland, Odessa) was sporting new black 4runners.

My 07 was used by the Aurora PD GIU for a time. The Gang Investigation Unit. My boss's brother is a detective with APD and had actually used my 07 among other unmarked vehicles as a member of that unit. I was the first owner of the 07 after APD GIU was done with it. It had a spacer lift with Nitto Trail Grappler MT's. You could see where there were Leo lights mounted in the grille. Probably had more lights. The salesman at Tynans Nissan even showed me the business card of the APD GIU contact. Apparently APD and Tynans had an agreement with Tynans supplying vehicles for GIU use. I had complete service records. I forgot what year, but one year there was only 1200 miles put on it. When I traded it in at 12 years old it only had 98K+ miles on it. Was 7 years old when I bought it. Only had 44K miles at the time. So....yes, Leo's can and do outfit trucks "like" the ones pictured above for official police use such as with the Gang Investigation Unit here in Aurora.

True.... but as a Leo myself... vehicles aren't bought, but "leased" for this purpose because they only keep vehicles like this for a limited time because they get "burned" so quickly in this very limited area of the job. Usually a few months and then they get another vehicle.

Exactly. Never said APD GIU bought my old 07 from Tynans but I did state they had it "for a time." I wasn't privy with the actual arrangements that APD had with Tynans. I figured they may have used it when investigating white skinhead redneck meth punks. I joked.... "Am I going to get shot at if I buy this Tundra?" Ha!

What is a marine board? Anything similar to a city council?
