Some are, yes. But some are built in Indiana.

I went out looking specifically for "1" VINs but had to settle for Mexican-built "3's" instead. They were both solid with no issues.

My new Civic was built in Indiana. I think Honda hired RV industry flunkies to build my car.

If anyone on here knows how to get a message to ryanwgregg, can you ask him to increase the size of the columns where people comment on whether they had any indications before engine failure on his spreadsheet? The ones towards the bottom isn’t big enough.

Just click on the cell you want to read and you can read the text in the formula bar:

4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2. For the last 12 years or so it’s been 5.3 and 6.2 in various forms. 6 speed, then 8 speed, then 10 speed. That’s just the V8s of course. Now there’s diesels and 4 cylinders as well….

I’ve had three 5.3s and one 6.2 - once you drive the 6.2 you’ll never want another 5.3. Made the 5.7 Tundra feel quite slow. However, in GM style, plagued with electrical gremlins by 130k.

I never had one I could tolerate long enough to see the lifter problem.

Meh - don’t know how lucky it was when the 2008 randomly exploded its side curtain airbags in my kid’s drop-off line.

05 LM7 for life....ran mine to 218k or so before selling it. SBE, P&P 243s, low lift 216/220 cam, LS7 lifters, BTR PR's in front of a stock 60e with a TB converter...best combo I've ever driven. Whooped on Raptors and 6.2 GMs. Never skipped a beat and most comfy seats ever in a full-size truck

Those were the Golden Age GM’s. 99-07. Still see plenty of them around, even work trucks, working every day. Sounds like yours was hot rodded out. Pretty cool

Sounds like they will only replace if the engine fails a test they have designed?

Not quite the Toyota experience ...

Someone on one of the Tundra FB groups spun a main bearing in his 6/24 build date Tundra with under 800 miles on it. Posted the dealer sheet even so looks to be legit. He only got a short block.

A failure that quick is probably a different problem, given the track record.
