hello I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7. The truck has 91,000 and the whole truck vibrates around 1200 to 1500 RPM. And sometimes under heavy acceleration. Cannot feel it in any other rpm.

Possible carrier bearing or U joint? Are you positive it’s at that RPM or is it at a certain speed? So many different variables. I guess it could be the fly wheel or harmonic balancer.
I would definitely check the easy stuff first.

Yes im positive seems like if you hold it at 1400rpm it does it constant. My tires are wear uneven bc i just bought the truck but it happens in park or neutral maybe the belt needs to be replace?

Any engine codes? Is it possible it’s miss firing? I’m still leaning towards harmonic balancer or fly wheel. Hopefully somebody else with more expertise will chime in.

Ok no code runs really idle is a pinch rough Power is really good. I replace my spark plugs clean my throttle body and my maf. Seems like when you rev it fast in park to 1500rpm it shakes alot and when you left off the gas it shakes to.

That makes it sound like a weird misfire.

Its really more of a vibration than a shake. I dont think its a misfire because its not constant. Its only a certain rpm. I was thinking a rotation problem maybe fan, serpentine belt or is just normal because when daily driving you dont feel it.

Hi I have the same thing. I have a 2018 tundra and installed a 2-1 level kit and I thought I noticed a very slight vibration so I installed a 1/2 inch carrier bearing drop spacers and it drives great no vibrations. But I did noticed when I’m parked or neutral and give a slight gas a little over 1000 rms and I feel a slight vibration. And only in a curtain rpm, can this be just how the engine runs?

Sorry to kick this old topic up, did you guys ever solve this problem ?
I have been dealing with the same problem always arround 1000-1800 rpm while driving but also when I rev the engine when in Park. Since then I already took the whole engine apart … but never able to put my finger on the problem, so it got me thinking maybe the tundra is supposed to be like this ?

I am experiencing the problem between 1000-1800, strongest arround 1400 rpm.
When driving but also when in P or N and rev the engine to that range.Because I have hold all the engine parts in my hands I can even tell that it’s still not good when running idle.

Today I checked another tundra, it ran like shit but didn’t have the vibration like we are experiencing, I’m sure we have the same problem.
What I did till now :
-Lift kit 3 inch front and back, carrier bearing drop kit I have a 2WD. But this doesn’t have anything to with it, it’s the engine.
    -carrier bearing replaced.
-2 heads completely rebuild + timing chains/tensioners replaced
    -new spark plugs + coils
    -torque converter replaced
-con rod bearings + bolts replaced
    -injector cleaner added to fuel
    -cleaned throttle body
    -swapped airflow meter
-smoke detection test on the inlet and vacuumhoses
-cleaned actuators of camshafts and swapped them arround
    -no error codes

I have pulled the engine and gearbox apart as you can see on the list.
But clueless what else to try..

I have this problem since I bought the truck 2 years ago.

The best way to describe it , it feels like driving of a stairs, I am starting to think the tundra is supposed to be like this. But since I checked the other tundra wich didn’t have the problem it gote thinking what am I missing here..

anyone else have any clue ?

Motor mounts are blown out, or carrier bearing. Possible unbalanced driveshaft or bad ujoints.

Cupped tires would of been my first guess however

Happening in park and neutral puts the problem from the transmission to the fanblade.

And it’s not the drive line because , it also is there in park and neutral

I have pulled the engine and inspected the motor mounts, nothing to see hear or feel there …

I jacked up the engine under the oil sump and the vibration seems to change a little, nothing to see or feel on the engine mounts, guess I will order a set and give it a shot :(

Know a few people that broke motor mounts including myself, nobody had a vibration. If I recall correctly your vibration coincides with the fuel pump switching speeds, but its been awhile so might be way off.

Some of the things I have done had another reason or just needed to be done.My truck has the problem on petrol and on LPG, I can switch fuels whenever I want, so I can make sure it’s not in one of the fuel supply’s.

I spoke to the topic starter and a other member who responded on this topic, they both have the same vibration in the same range, they haven’t replaced anything and just ride with it and going with the thought: the truck is supposed the be like this.

I’m sure I am missing something that is causing the shake.

i replaced the 2 motor mounts and the transmission mount, on both motormounts the little pin next to the bolt thread was broken, it’s slightly better now, but its definitely not solved the shaking yet … the search continues

Did you replace both pieces in the picture(mount and engine side bracket)? If so, and you still have them, would you be interested in selling them? Thanks!

Has anyone found the seismic tremors in the 1200-1500rpm range yet? I have one as well, and it has all the dealers puzzled. Its more annoying than anything. Maybe they were all made in the same place and had a bad batch of parts in them? Toyota should put us in for a PIP Kit.

Did you try running it without the fan blade? I had a broken blade on my work vehicle and it shook the whole truck like crazy. Just a thought, I too was going to suggest motor mounts but I see that wasn’t it. Could it be the torque converter?

I can already feel the vibration/Shake in the engine in P & N so driveline is excluded

Certain trucks vibrate or exhibit harmonics that are felt into the cab and drivers senses, its kinda un-explainable. Ive seen loose dashboards vibrate like crazy and make the driver think there was an engine issue.

You have to determine if the vibration is coming from the engine operating normally, or if the engine is causing other components to vibrate and what you are actually feeling and hearing are non-mechanical parts hitting certain harmonics from a healthy engine just doing its thing. The only happening at certain RPMs makes me think this. If an engine was unbalanced the vibration would get worse as RPM increases theoretically.
