This is one of the first clips featuring the sound of the vehicle.

    1:45

Sounds pretty good! I was wondering if Toyota was going to address the V8 sound concern in any way and it seems like they did.

The dealership that recorded this video confirmed in the comments that this doesn't appear to be pumped in audio through the exterior exhaust sound..

Even if it is pumped in, I couldn't care less. It sounds close enough to a V8 on the inside. It will probably never sound like that on the outside but that's not what I hear when I drive.

We had it in a 2013 Rav, seemed to work very well and never had any issues in 5 yrs.

I have faith Toyota will not have it be that bad I had a rental escape and know exactly what you are talking about. Hoping it will be as amazing as my Camaro's electric steering but it probably wont be as precise since it won't be a performance orientated car its a truck.

My wife’s highlander has it. It’s pretty smooth and almost too effortless lol. My concern is how will it stand up to heavier/bigger wheel and tire setups.

That doesn't sound like a V6, I'm thinking there's some trickery with the acoustics.

Boosted engines have a deeper tone. Take a WRX for example, small 4 engine and with exhaust those things sound deep and amazing!

I could certainly be wrong. It would be great if that's how it actually sounds!

Pretty quiet. Curious if the exhaust sound outside sounds like a pissed off hornets nest like the Raptor.

I turned the V8 sound off on my Ford. The quiet cab was much better than hearing the fake stuff.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Depends on the vehicle. I'm not super concerned about what a pickup sounds like. A sports car or sports sedan on the other hand needs to have some bark!

Not interested in hearing any noise from a V6 so I guess I just want to hear the AT3s on this truck. This is probably going to be what pushes me away from the pro and TRD exaust. Which one is in the video where you can hear him stand up on it? Def dont want to hear that all the time.

I'll bet under normal throttle the new truck and the exhaust will be pretty tame.

Even my 2015 Chevrolet SS with a true dual exhaust in front of 6.2L of LS3 is pretty well behaved until you get after it, at highway speeds all I hear are the tires and a distant deep thrum from the V8. No problem at all having a conversation or listening to the stereo. When it's time to get rowdy it barks enough that I have never had much desire to change it for anything more aggressive.

Incorrect. Inline motors that are boosted can gain a deeper tone based upon engine design.
The Subaru boxer engines and the Supra tend to sound pretty good and have a slightly deeper tone with exhausts.

Any others especially V block based engines do not (think fast and furious) they get higher pitched raspy and nasty when opened up.
Here is Borla answer for a the 3.5L TT ON THE F150.
Borla has made great stuff for years but this is the best the can do for the Ecoboost tells you a lot.

Don’t expect much to be different for the Tundra.

A rice rocket V6 will never sound like a V8. Turbo'd or not. A coworker has a very nice totally tricked out WRX but it it still whines like a rice rocket because....it......is. Not saying it sounds bad, it just doesn't sound like a finely tuned exhaust V8.

I agree with the previous 2 posts. Very hard to amplify a v6 and still sound good. Keeping it quiet is best bet.

Hopefully they don’t pipe in fake sound or at least give you the option to turn it off.

The sound in that video doesn't sound real. It sound like the exaust tip from a tacoma trd is in the cab or very close it it.

    Agreed.

An in-line 6 can sound glorious, a horizontally opposed 6 can too. A V-6 almost always sounds like thrashy trash.

That is trickery. Either video or phony stuff pumped in like a Ford.

I personally don't really care what it sounds like as long it lays down torque

If they pump it in it will have a switch I bet. My wife's f sport lexus has a dimmer switch to control the pumped in noise in sport mode. I always turn it all the way off. She seems to like it though lol

WRXs (Subies in general) sound different because they are boxer motors. Has nothing to do with the turbos. If it did you wouldn't have a bunch of WRX lovers who didn't like it when the 2.0 engine came out with equal length headers, because it killed the "subaru rumble" that the previous engines had.

Actually the Borla is better than expected. This has been my biggest concern: the exhaust note of a V6. I've only ever heard 1 or 2 decent ones. It can't compare to I6 or V8 - imo.

Same here. We've had out 2012 Rav4 nine years now. No issue with the power steering.
