Afternoon, I'm looking to install a front bumper replacement or bull bar. Before I make a purchase I wanted to check if anyone has installed any with the push bar.

Im currently looking at the Iron Cross HD bumper with the push bar, or the Aries bull bar (3" round pipe). Any advice on if the TSS sensor will be blocked? Mine is on aTRD Pro grille installed behind the crazy over priced panel below the Toyota lettering. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don’t think there is any documentation from Toyota on the sensor angles or anything, at least not public, but I’d almost guarantee it needs the entire front clear all the way down to the road surface.

I kinda figured that, but I wanted to make sure. Maybe I can find a way around it, or relocate it. Thanks

Thank you, I've read threads on here for a long time just never joined. But I'm glad to be a part of it.

Just switched back to Tundra, a had a 2015 blue ribbon metallic that I traded for an F250. Had a lot of issues with the powerstroke and decided to get back in a Tundra right before Christmas.

Aries 3” works fine with the PCS sensor, I had one for a while. I have a new and used one for sale on the market place forum if you’re interested.

I have the go Rhino bumper with bar, no TSS issues. It’s by no means a bull bar though

Nice truck @deedubb, I think it will fit. I already bought the Aries bull bar a few weeks ago but I was going to return it. My only question now is if the sensor is positioned lower on the pro grille insert than it is now on my center badge.

But I'm going to give it a shot, I'll post some pics if it works, incase anyone else goes this route. Thanks for the info everyone.

What lift did you go with @deedubb, I'm thinking about doing a 4.5" BDS Coilover, but might go 7". I like the stance yours has though.

I am having the same problem, looking for some added front end protection, other than the stock bumper which I do not want to change, looking for alternatives that will keep the stock sensors, not lose the use of the pull hooks (it appears that most push bars and bull bars use the same mounting holes that the pull hooks use. and still give me a little added front end protection...not asking for much. lol suggestions?

deedubb has the right idea with Rhino. That is a nice machine. Here’s my issue with Fab Four. The animal bar is right in front of the emblem where the Pre Collision System is. Brand new and it didn’t even cross my mind until now when there’s no cruise control at all. I thought maybe digging the sensor out and remounting it on the bar or mount a mirror or reflective strip to deflect the sensors vision. Toyota says they can’t delete the code due to it being a safety feature. Anyone have any ideas? Or tell the dealer to take the bumper they ordered back.

the sensor absolutely cannot just be removed and placed anywhere in the front end. Nor can you put mirrors or reflective strips to trick it. It’s designed to function in the location it comes in with very little room for recalibration if needed. However, by no means can the sensor be blocked by anything. It’s a shame the salesman didn’t go over any of this with prior to purchasing the vehicle. Most dealerships don’t want the liability or legally can’t delete anything safety related. Your options are limited here. Keep the features of the vehicle and get something that doesn’t block the sensor. Or keep it and live with features you certainly paid for but can’t use and a constant light on the dash.

    Welcome from NY.

Can you take a direct head on front picture.
I think you can get a relocation bracket and lower the TSS sensor.

It’s welded from Fab Four. It could be cut and re-welded shorter or higher. Might look butchered up a bit. $2300 bumper shouldn’t have to be re-welded but here I am. After it was installed the tech said the TSS sensor wouldn’t work I said that’s ok I don’t use that feature but that error doesn’t seem to allow any cruise control at all. Would there be a setting to get around it? I’ve got it turned off. I Unplugged it and a full screen shows up saying see a dealer. Would the other style of grill lower it? Enough?

The dealer put the bumper on? Was it at your request or did they sell it that way? If they did it then they disabled a safety feature and if you didn’t sign a disclaimer agreeing to it, I’d tell them to fix it. Probably by getting a new bumper. Also the cruise will still work. Just have to hold the button when turn it on for 3 sec and it disables the radar cruise and makes it a regular cruise.

I remember someone moved their TSS sensor to where I put the red dot. I think they glued it or taped it to the back of the grill surround.

My understanding is the height of the sensor isnt as much of an issue as the angle is. Before I knew that, I had my DB Customz grille put on and it came with 4 extra washers on the top mounting bracket (angling it downward in anticipation of a lift I'm assuming). My PCS not available light would be on 50% of the time. Talking with them they said TSS sensor issues come from angling and not so much the height. That being said, I left it in anticipation that my lift/tires (that go on today) will adjust the issue by raising the sensor but the angle returning it more to center.

You should be fine relocating it above or below the bull bar depending on how you angle (prop) it against whatever relocation bracket you get with washers. I wouldnt want to hack an already coated bumper.

You might be able to use the new pro style grille. It moved the sensor down a bit, and it might have a clear shot under the bar. Like @timsp8 said, if they installed it and you didn't sign a waiver or request it, you might be able to get them to upgrade you to the pro grille for free.

The bumpers, rock guards, skid plates and headache rack we’re all part of the original purchase just before Christmas. I picked out what I wanted on the truck, They ordered it all (nothing mentioned about blocking that sensor) and the bumpers were just installed the other day. No waiver signed just a verbal (yeah no problem I don’t use it anyway). Ok so I’ll bring that relocation bracket idea to them, change the grill out or switch that bumper out and tell them to tell Fab Four they have a major design flaw on this model of bumper and hopefully come to an agreement without yelling. These are some options I didn’t have the other day. Thank you guys for the ideas and help processing this issue. Any other ideas are always appreciated. I’ll talk to the dealer today and keep you posted.

I hope they will work with you, but because you requested the bumper they might just say that it was your obligation to research compatability of an aftermarket product. Go in friendly, because they technically don't have to do anything at this point. If they do help you out, then they are being really nice. Best of luck!

Walked through it with the tech today. He says the TRD Pro grill will drop the sensor 4” which should fit under the bull bar. Parts quoted me $1250 CAD. Included 2 hours ($300) shop time to reprogram. And the sensor can be reinstalled in the new grill. I could push back for a better price or just order online and have them do the reprogramming. Any thoughts are always appreciated.

Oh boy. He sure pitched it good. I did mention the relocation bracket earlier to him. Maybe he was considering both?
