I had started the truck with the remote start. Unlocked the door and the truck didn't turn off which I thought was odd bc it's a "safety feature." Got in turned it off and went to turn it back on and nothing. Now my CEL and battery light are on. I did get the maintenance required message but I thought it was due to needing an oil change. Thoughts? I tried to google box and search here but didn't see anything that really fit. Truck is a 19 4wd.

    Yea, stock battery.
Oddly enough the truck is now starting. It sat less than 5 minutes.

Could it be a weak key fob battery?

It sounds plausible. One way to check would be to look in the manual for the starting procedure with a dead fob. My subaru required you to use the fob to press the start button so it could read the chip inside the fob and start. A coworkers car had a hidden ignition switch in her center console for the tiny key in case the fob battery died. Not sure what Toyota does for it as I have the old school key myself.

Anyway, if the fob battery is dead the manual will tell you how to start the truck anyway, and if it still has an issue I think you can rule out the fob battery.

Same thing happened to me last week. I started my truck with my remote start, parked, tried to start it with the key and it wouldn’t after multiple attempts. While waiting for AAA I tried starting with remote start and it started right up. No issues since. Really odd.

Some remote starts have a 10 min timer. If it’s turned off in that 10 min, it won’t restart. You have to wait until the timer is up. My 2010 tundra was this way.
