Truck won't start - narrowed it down to fuel pump or ECU - help diagnosing?

Started up the truck to run a quick errand, didn't drive it the following day. Tried to start it up and it would try to start but never would.

Battery needed to be replaced anyway so I did that. Truck is getting spark, verified that.

I can get the truck to start if I put starting fluid in the intake. It'll start up/turn over then die, so I think it has to be a fuel delivery issue (there was also no smell of gas on the spark plugs at all when I pulled them).

Anyone have any ideas how to tell if it's the fuel pump or the ECU or module that runs it?

My guess would be it has something to do with your alarm system or your key if it has a chip. If you have a second key try that. Something sounds disabled. I doubt it’s your ECM or fuel pump but you never know.

I only have the one key. There's no alert on the dash showing an issue with the key or anything.

Try putting the key in opposite the way you had it.

Tried both of these already, but thank you

    EDITED TO ADD:
To those thinking this is an immobilizer thing, wouldn't I see the light showing that the key has issues on the center dash display?

I went through a similar issue... ended up with a new key, a new battery, and a new fuel pump. Everything has been fine since then.

Mine quit on me a couple months back. Hauled it to the dealership, after diagnostics, they found the fuel pump control module was bad. The tech told me it was something that never should have failed. The extended warranty covered it, only cost me 100 vs almost 800 without the coverage

FIX! Sorry to necro this thread, but if there is a fix...... Oh yeah, speaking of fix. Had a 2011 Tundra about 35 mph just completely lose all fuel pressure and coasted to a stop dead. Two days of Toyota TIS testing later, I finally got brave amd pulled the fuel pump control ECU that is bolted and sits inside the frame. I removed it and actually disassembled it. The condition of the main chip that has 144 soldered contact points was toasty black on the greenboard side that you can see and if you flex the greenboard outward enough (it will not come completely out) the condition of the chip area itself was completely corroded. I replaced the fuel pump control ECU and the Tundra fired right up! Replacing the fuel pump control ECU fixed my problem.

I have a 2011 4.6 Tundra. I am also having random crank no start issues. I narrowed the problem down to the fuel pump control module. I pulled a module from a 2012 Tundra at the local salvage yard and it seems to only work when it wants to. I am using a Launch x431v bidirectional scan tool. With key on, Launch hooked up and multimeter back probing the white signal wire going into the FP ecu and the other lead to chassis ground I get 12v. When I use the Launch to control the fuel pump on/off or fuel pump duty cycle 25%/80% I get roughly .02v fluctuation. I also have 12v on the white/black incoming power wire. I get 0 v on the blue and red wire going to the fuel pump. There is a green incoming wire which is labeled DI in the wiring diagram and coming in from the ecm but I could not find any info on that one.
Dose anyone have the official Toyota Service Manual section for testing and troubleshooting the fuel pump circuit starting at the ecm. The manual I have only tells you how to remove and install the pump ecu. Nothing about how it should work.

Try here. The official repair manual from Toyota for a 2009 4.7. Should be close enough to the same.
