Had Toyota investigate my popping noise in the front end that I get occasionally while turning and they said I am rubbing.

I have seen many posts about trimming or relocating the fender liner. Does anyone have before and after pics of this procedure?

I don’t. I just see where it was rubbing and used a dremmel to cut the liner. Some have used a heat gun to remold it.

    This may help.
Avoid if you can the heat gun, better options available.

Photo of what someone local did. Trimmed at the large bolts, pushed the liner to the front and drilled a new hole for the one bolt.
When I did mine, I pushed the liner forward and drilled a new hole, not as much a s the photo. I then used a heat gun and a large socket it massage one spot I just rubbed on

I dont have a picture of mine. But there are 2 or 3 10mm/philps screws on the splash shield close to the front bumper when you remove them. And pull the splash shield back you expose the clips that the splash shield mount to. Pull the clips off and cut it back further about an inch. Replace clips a d re-install. No need for heat gun or torch.

I agree with post #2. There should be marks where the tires make contact, just address those areas.

Well to anyone in the future wanting to do this here is my advice after trying both ways:

Skip the heat gun. Tried to heat up the plastic at first and use the end of a hammer to push on it and reshape it but it just made it look like shit.

Takes literally 2 minutes to pop them off. I used some shears to trim the bottom of the plastic then touched it up with my dremel. Turned out perfect, can’t even tell from just looking in there that I have done anything. Also trimmed the end cap a little and made it where they tucked in.

I heated it up, used the fat end of a baseball and it rolled forward pretty good. I then made 2 new holes for the existing bolts, I guess I could have trimmed the excess but it be only impressing ants. I avoided using a hammer from previous posts.

Thanks! Only running 275/70 atm but anticipating going up a size next time around. Didn’t really have to do this mod as my rubbing was very very minor. My main goal was to prove the Toyota tech wrong who said the popping noise in my front end was from the tires rubbing. Now if I can only track down where the popping is actually coming from...
