Picked up a set of new take off 18x8 TRD rims for my truck which currently has the 18" styled steel wheels. I will be swapping over the Michelins that are currently on my steel wheels so no problem there. My questions are for the lugs and TPMS, do I need to pick up a new set of lugs or will my current ones work? TPMS I have been searching and there's a few different approaches-purchase a new 20* set and have them programmed or I have read that I can just flip my steel ones and have them installed that way. Seems like only issue with that is if I get a flat and sometimes shops wont install them that way. I will be installing at my buddies shop so I can put them however I want, is the issue only if I get a flat? If that's the case I think I will just transfer over my TPMS.

Pretty sure the lugs will not work. Just got some 15 TRD tire/wheels and the lug nuts have a flat shoulder, not typical acorn style. Mine came with TMPS installed and tires and lug nuts. Had Discount Tire mount and set up my truck for the new TPMS.

I recently did this. Lugs and tpms do not match. You will need both.

Lugs will definitely not work. Tpms can work if the guy installs them backwards which is not recommended. I bought new tpms on ebay and had toyota reprogram my car to work with them.

TRD sway bar, matching mirror cover, 20% tint, esp aluminum box, Line-X premium, Undercover Flex tonneau cover, led interior lights, winjet smoked tail lights. Road armor rear bumper w/ road armor shackles, go rhino front bumper.
Are the lugs the same between the 18" trd rims and the 20" platinum rims?

I think they are, looking at OEM parts catelogs they only list two lug nuts a steel version and and alloy wheel version. Toyota is proud of the alloy wheel versions $9.74 each vs the $1.56 for the steel ones.

Is there any harm installing them backwards? Any issues with normal driving or just if you got a flat or weren't carful dismounting tires?
