I have a 2018 trd package with standard mirrors, when I bought the truck, I wanted the tow mirrors, but this one came with standard mirrors. Dealer said no problem we will just swap them out. They had 2017 model year mirrors. Set the dash off lit up like a Christmas tree. Apparently there are sensors in the 2018 my mirrors for the lane departure alert system. The dealer is still telling me 4 months later that the new 2018 mirrors with the sensors in them aren't available yet. My question is, has anyone else come across this issue, and successfully aquired the proper style 2018 mirrors with sensors to keep the lda system happy, but still upgrade from the conventional mirror to the tow mirror?? I'm not in a huge hurry, but camping season is coming up soon, and I'm going to want them when the camper goes on the back! Help!!

Welcome! I’m sure someone will jump in here and chime in. In the meantime let’s see pictures of your truck.

Welcome. I think there will be a solution in the future, surprised Toyota wasn't ready for this.

And, they still haven't gotten BSM into tow mirrors...... 'cause, you know, people who tow don't need to worry 'bout blind spots. Well, small complaints compared to...... "This is my 3rd transmission in under 100k........ "

Also surprised Toyota didn't think of this!

We tow a 34-foot camper so I also had my stock mirrors replaced for the towing mirrors in my 2014 but neither have the lane sensors so wasn't an issue. (But both are heated, which is very handy)

See my other post on this subject. Not OEM but works great.

this is referring to the blind spot monitoring system. I don't have that feature on my truck. My issue is with the lane departure alert system. (No light in mirror, just sensor in the bottom to seeing if you cross the yellow line or white line and sets off an alarm in the truck.

From my understanding and per owners manual the line departure alert system works with the front camera installed behind rear view mirror, it has nothing to do with the side view mirrors. Check your truck settings, maybe that feature is checked off

If that was the case, then they would have left the 2017 model year mirrors on, but they refused to (Toyota dealership) because the lane departure alert system was no longer functional. Yes, I can go through the menu system and turn off the lda feature, but with the improper mirrors installed, there are lda system fault codes set in the system lighting up the dash like s Christmas tree. My hope is that someone may have found an aftermarket mirror assembly that has worked for their trd package truck with the lane departure alert system (2018 model is the first year with this option) without having to disable that feature.

I will be curious to see what you find. I have read the owners manual, I have also read the system operation in Mitchell on demand and alldata, which both show a sensor in the mirror on the wiring schematic. What year is your used set from?

Interested/curious as well. Almost bought set from @Roman He told me others have put them on without incident. Will stick with my aftermarket wrap around until OEM is available

ok, as I suspected, they work as they should, LDA works just fine, all the lights works, they were pulled out of a 2015 tundra, they are OEM mirros, btw, not to be an ass, but were you present when dealer changed them and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree? or you took their word for it?
