Before I begin I am like many I love the PRO but they didn’t have the color choices so that being said I bought a Limited and this isn’t a knock on the Tundra bought one and love it.

‘The Tacoma TRD Pro Offer’s drive train features that are awesome crawl control etc... The Tundra confuses me in that (correct me if I am wrong) it’s diffs, transfer case and 4wd capabilities on all trim levels are the same. If the Tundra Pro offered locking diffs and crawl control, I may sell my 2020 tomorrow and buy a PRO so why wouldnt Toyota offer these items on a Tundra model they call a PRO. I just don’t understand their thought process ie.. the Tacoma Pro has badass off-road capabilities and the Tundra PRO has suspension and appearance upgrades. I WANT TO REITERATE I LOVE THE LOOKS AND FEATURES OF THE TUNDRA PRO, SO NO KNOCK ON YOU GUYS.

Again I Love My Tundra but am going to have to add lockers and a winch to get the best of both worlds which is a full-size Toyota that if I want to do more than mild off-roading when it’s just us with confidence.

Cool video, but it also showed things that prove the OP's point. Either way, love the Tundra, but if you want an off-road machine without breaking the bank, go get a 4Runner.

That was COOL and no I had not seen ii so Thank You, but could a regular trim Tundra done the same thing with suspension changes ie.. a small lift??

For me this is thread meant to be Thought provoking and educational so I welcome all tips and comments.

From what I understand, the tranny, 4WD components, and engine are the same. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not a hardcore off road wheeler, but I have climbed some pretty decent stuff with mine.

You're not wrong. The only performance affecting change in a PRO is the suspension. That is something easily added to any Tundra, so OP is correct that it is primarily a cosmetic trim.

The TRD Pro rims and the etched bed sure is freaking sweet though!!!

I sometimes regret that I did not get a black TRD Pro when I bought my Platinum. Just went on a 1,300 mile round trip couple weeks ago and the Platinum seats sure are nice for the long hauls!

just with they added a locker or crawl control, crawl control would have been easy since it's mostly software...

@Big dave tell everyone how they're stupid for buying anything other than a pro and changing the suspension because it's not a "real pro":boink:

Pretty sure anybody can comment anywhere they like on the forum. Besides, this one is in general discussion, so no pro snobbery applies.

OP - as others have said, there is no difference between the Pro and any other model other than cosmetic. If you want to keep the truck stuck and you like some of the minor cosmetic upgrades, get a Pro. If you plan on building the vehicle up, get any other trim level that suits your needs and build it to be more capable than a stock pro for less $$.

I totally agree with you on how Toyota only allow certain options on certain trims and don’t allow you to pick and choose trims and make all options available. I do wish the US Pros have more options instead of SR5 trim with the Pro touches.

When I bought the 4runner for the wife, I wanted to purchase the Pro 4Runner, but the wife needed 3rd row seats. We hated the look of the limited 4runners, so we ordered an optioned out SR5 Premium. Then when I was buying my Tundra, I found a Black Pro but didn’t like the lack of options as compared to the Canadian Pros. Juggled between the Platinum and Limited and settled on an optioned Limited.

I would have went nuts and bought a decked out Pro if given the option, but it is easier to swap out suspension versus factory installed tech.

Haha. All you 3rd gen bloated Tundra owners with your chest puffed out. Simmer down would ya?

On topic, it’s sad what they did with the Pro. Only select colors, lame red-stitches seats regardless of exterior color...only real ‘feature’ it has going for it is the bed stamp....sad.

I thought the Canadian Pros were still just SR5s with different suspension, wheels, tires and some aesthetic pieces. But I admit I haven't looked into them too much.

Given the hour(possible booze), quarantine stress, etc. I'd just say delete the angry posts and counsel against future outbursts. Members have beefs. It happens. Not sure it is worth a ban.

I think we all are having a bad month or two. Some much worse than others. I have had one ban with no warning in a very poorly moderated forum. So I can emphasize, the problem on this is it got personal... and that’s a line the violators typically don’t stop crossing.

Some don't, you're right. But is it a first time permanent ban offense? Mercy has a place just as much as justice does.

I’d like to add, the moderators on this forum do an outstanding job. I don’t know if they are a great team back by good leadership probably both.

I really appreciate coming here and not having hundred page rants taking away from the topic of the forum. It’s all but killed a once great Ducati forum.

If your buying a 3 gen tundra I’d assume most are buying it to enjoy a nice ride , possibly to tow your crawler or capable off road money pit , I’m pretty sure anyone that knows even a little bit knows the wheel base is way to long to be considered a viable candidate for a good true wheeling machine . Can’t we just all get along .
