So I currently have a 16 Platinum and I put in a deposit to get a Trd Pro that’s coming in Feb. I’m starting to have second thoughts. I’m might get another Platinum because I love the interior and extra options. I do like the Pro though and the color. What would you guys say is the better all around truck?

Don't you mean an overpriced SR5 vs a loaded Platinum?

Choice is easier than you think.

Wrap it any color you want, and buy a new grill, they aren't expensive. You could also add a lift and tires and wheels and still be ahead of the game compared to trading for a pro.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
Depends on what features you want and are the most important to you. Bed stamp vs air conditioned seats are the biggest difference. Color combo you like the best, or if you are really in love with the new fox shocks... I'd rather have my 2.5 kings on my platinum tho.

If it were me, I'd save my money for the next gen when it comes out. difference between a new Pro or Platinum vs your 16 isn't enough to justify the cost in my mind.

I recently went through this same question. I ended up with a platinum because of the features the pro lacks.

Stopped at the local dealer yesterday while they were closed and the had a new black Pro with leather and sunroof, I wasn't impressed. I say Platinum. If the redesign (whenever that happens) brings something I don't like I may trade for a last year Platinum of the current Gen.

Spot on right here. Plus if you wrap it, be more unique than the pro.

I went with the pro for a few reasons. The color (voodoo blue), the suspension, the lack of chrome, TRD exhaust, plus unlike having something different.
Yes the platinum and 1794 have some really.nice features but were not for me.

I’ll say it again: for > $50k dollars, a truck should have parking sensors. Get the Platinum. You can build a platinum to perform to the same standard as a PRO, with more creature comforts.

Not quite the whole story. Can't get the fox shocks...yet. can't get the more interesting colors. Other than that, I agree.

Granted, Fox shocks not yet available, but “perform to the same standard as a PRO” leaves plenty of wiggle room. Difficult to believe that ICON/Toytec/etc. can’t produce a suspension kit that performs as well (if not better) than a PRO. The suspension is the only measurable difference between the PRO and the rest of the Tundra trim levels, IMHO, and, like anything else, that difference can be easily overcome with money, and not that much money (relatively) in this case. Either way, people should get whatever truck floats their respective boat.

    Just my .02...

To me a truck is a truck and the trim level of the Pro is still way more than a truck in my book. Heated and cooled seats, power mirrors, dual zones are nice and if that important to you then seriously consider it. I considered adding heated seats but I did the remote start instead and figure my keister can handle a short acclimation spell from the colder seats when needed. My only grudge is no BSM on the Pro's. Definitely can do without the LDA, turned it off after about a week. All the sensor stuff is a relative pain but they all have that now and dramatically lowers the insurance costs with it. The Fox suspension, TRD dual exhaust, Rigid fogs, sprayed in bed liner, sunroof and the exclusive wheels as standard definitely played big for me. Bed stamp is not duplicatable from what I am aware of. Be curious to know projected production numbers for the Pro's this year as they definitely hold a vary niche resale value due to limited numbers.

To summarize, Go Pro and good luck with your decision. You're making a great choice either way.

Not sure why people buy TRD Pro shocks anyway if they don’t have a Pro. One can get a far superior shock for less in every way.

I would choose a Platinum all day long. If off-roading was my plan, I would still get a platinum and install a long travel suspension with 2.5-3.0 shocks with reservoirs. I also like the features of a platinum though.

I had a TRD Offroad, then a Pro and now a Platinum. Love the Platinum the most, and have been upgrading it along the journey. Happiest setup I've been personally.
