I had a blast installing this new TRD Performance Cold Air Intake on my 2018 Platinum.
    https://youtu.be/ll3IqWRBhrs

Links to part numbers and manuals below. I actually purchased mine at my dealer since they gave me a sweet price.

I love the rumble sound coming from the intake around 2,500-3,000 RPM. Sounds like a beast - way better than stock. I haven't been able to calculate any MPG changes yet. They're probably so minimal it would be hard to calculate since driving habits change based on the music I'm listening to.

I got it during the TRD 40% off sale. I know people will say there is no performance benefit, but I like the way it looks better than the stock box.

I am too practical to install something for looks that will never be seen.

Where and when was this sale? I've seen it mentioned a few times. Was hoping to pick up the exhaust and this next time around. Wasn't sure if it was just a one off or something "regular" (e.g. Black Friday).

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Glad you enjoyed installing it. If I had the money to burn, I'd do it but after watching your vid, I now really do NOT see the benefits from it at all since it uses a panel filter. Just buy the filter (I did) and the air flow accelerator and your done. The last intake used a cone filter so I could see a greater surface area of air flow but now, it's just for looks. Either way, nice vid and glad you enjoyed your purchase.

I see it whenever I open the hood. It was cheap enough to justify the new filter and air flow accelerator.

It was only 1 day last April for the 40th anniversary. As far as I know it’s the only time it’s happened.

The CAI coupled with the TRD dual exhaust makes my Tundra great. I bought the CAI. I knew the gains were minimal and there would be a crowd that said I was wasting my money. But, I don’t give a shit what anyone says about how I spend my money. I would be willing to bet that everyone has bought something they like and that others think is a waste of money. Do what makes you happy.

It was during the 50th anniversary a few months back, I believe. I don't think it is a regular thing.

Hell yeah! How much did that set you back, if you don't mind me asking. It's on my list, but really hard to justify the costs I've seen (for my type of driving).

I thought about getting one but the using expensive gas turned me off about it.
I would be paying for it the rest of the trucks life

I thought the entire purpose of a CAI was to bring in cold air, this is typically done by getting the filter outside of the engine compartment. Is this really a CAI or just a aftermarket intake box... ? I've installed a few over the years and they all were outside the engine compartment.

Both are ported to the fender area, away from engine compartment. Stock & TRD are CAI, TRD is slightly different design for more or better air flow.
Many on here have done the SABM (Google it) to get more flow to stock.

Ok I'm just use to seeing the filter outside of the engine compartment, all air filters are ported technically....

You set me straight :) I’ve only installed the fender ones, after reading more they do a little better bringing in the cold air, but the same draw back is you could hydro lock in a big puddle on the lower cars...
