    UPDATE: 3/9/2022

The Block has found a New Home!

    More info here:

It was an honor to be a part of the caretaking of this special engine.

The new owner is not only very knowledgeable in our community but it going to be building it and installing back into a Tundra in the future.

This was most important to me...

He also found more possible info and so far it is lining up!

I now have a solid Time Attack toy to play with that I honestly wanted since I was a kid!
    Love the flip ups!

    UPDATE: 3/24/21

Got the block back from the shop and is going into the corner of my storage until I can find here a good home.

SO if you're interested just send me a PM.

Thanks to Gerald and David at Al & Ed Autosound in Huntington Beach!

They not only hooked it up but definitely made me feel like I wasn't crazy!:rofl:

    UPDATE: 2/17/21

So I was moving the engine and left it in my truck this weekend and wouldn't you know that the first rains we had in a bit just so happened when I had to leave my engine overnight...

Well, the cylinder walls got a slight surface so I just dropped it off to get it cleaned up for long-term storage until I have a good home for this bad boy!

While there we took measurements on the bore size in comparison to the other stock block I have and well...

The TRD block is 3.800-inch bore compared to the stock 3.691-inch
The crank is also forged and looks like has a longer stroke.

Also, the cam gears look to be Chromoly as well.
It's getting stripped down this week, measured, cleaned, and painted before being wrapped up in plastic.

I'll post as much as I can on the process but boy is this tempting to play with more...

Let me know if you guys have any more input or theories about proper size or if you just even want it.
I just feel better about taking care of this properly for the future.

Special thanks to David and the crew at Al & Ed's auto sound in Huntington Beach!

Ok guys, I've been putting this off but now I have some down time>
As promised here is all the pictures and info I have on the TRD Block that I scored.

I got it off of offer up and I noticed the TRD logo's so I went to check it out.

This is one of the engines from Rick Huseman who died in 2011

    Info here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Huseman

The engine seems to be complete except rods, pistons, and cams.
    TRD dry sump pan
    TRD Crank
Various TRD plates and engine cradle

Had it checked out and it's definitely in great shape but does need a refresh of everything done to it since it's just been sitting for over a decade.

Also got 2 Boatec racing bedside from his truck too, if anyone is interested.

I also have a spare engine that is torn down that was with it.
I haven't looked through everything yet as my space and time is limited.

TRD is close to me in Costa Mesa but the people I used to know there are no longer there anymore, neither are my connections at Toyota...

So if you guys have any info to share I would be more than grateful to hear it!

    Info I've found so far:

    https://www.trdusa.com/trd-engines-behind-the-build.html
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triad_Racing_Technologies

And 2 ebay listings that might be comparable:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Phase-14-T...Engine/283751145895?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-TRD...lumbed/133630865583?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Ultimately, I want to find a good home to someone that will rebuild it and use it for what it is.
it's a great coffee table but sad to see it there at the same time.

Would love to trade it for an MKIV Supra shell or a GT4 Celica, Evo, Etc...
You know, something fun to play with on the track and mountains
Or atleast add to the funds to get me there.

Please add any info that you can contribute!

What are the big differences between the TRD block and the factory 2UZ? Beefier mains and crank? Thicker decks? Appears at least one of the two crate engines you linked are of larger displacement. Bigger bore on this one? The others don't appear to be running any boost. The drag one has a 250 shot of nitrous on it. Curious what rods and pistons they are running for that. It's a cool piece for sure.

I can dream right? I can’t get any info about it from region. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a special higher than normal nickel content iron block designed for more abuse.

That is exactly what I'm wondering too, those bores are gigantic.

I know the TRD crank and mains are but not sure about the bore size.
When I first got this and had it checked, I didn't know what specs to look for so it was just a basic inspection.
I can measure it but god knows where my tools are in my storage.

I included all the info I could that I've collected so far.
not much other info, that's why I posted so you guys might be able to help me get more info.
or ask the right questions for me to find out.

As of right now, it's staying with me and I'll clean it up and try to store it properly to use down the road.

It's such a kool piece that I really want to see it run again one day.

But I'm still open to hear what you guys think it's worth or want it.
As long as it will be cared for that's the best I'm looking for.

empty_lord, I told you I'm interested in your Benz. :rolleyes:o_O:D:rofl::rofl:

I just realized that I posted this thread in the FS section.

I am looking to sell it but with caveats... trade would be better, will add cash too for the right project...

Can a Mod move this or should I just make a new thread??

3.800 bore? Did you happen to get crank measurements to see if it’s a striker? Curious what displacement that sucker is. May give ideas for me...

seems like 4.9ish l would achievable with just a bore and larger pistons. Couple that with maybe a bump in compression and blueprinting, can probably make the 2uz a decent performer for not a TON of money.

I was in a rush today but forgot to ask.
Earlier they confirmed a bigger crank.
Ill try to ask for the numbers or measure it myself if I can...
    Gotta look up how...

But it looking around it looks like right around the 5.0 mark similar engines with the bore were 5.3 like the 3S motors so maybe close to there.
I'm still an amature so I don't want to speculate too much.

I got a bunch of parts to install on my truck so for the next few weeks I'm gonna concentrate on that.

Unless... the benz is an option and I'll get you all the info I can...:p:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
