Hello all, so a buddy and i had a debate on how would we transport our guns if we took my crewmax tundra. If they are locked in their cases no loaded magazines can they be in the back seat? Or do they need to be in the bed of the truck. Just trying not to get in trouble with the law.

    Still rocking the stock height.
That is going to depend on where you are at and where you are going. Where I am, San Antonio, they can be fulled loaded ready to go in their cases in the back seat. I would have something to cover them with, but that is only so someone does not see them.

If you’re in Riverside CA, guns have to be locked and ammo has to be locked in separate containers.

Unless riverside has some crazy laws, for CA its unloaded in a secure locked container.

    That be a no.

The last time I was in CA (16’), I had a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with me, so there wasn’t much restrictions inside my Tundra...the guns were all his. ;)

Possibly but you might have to fight it out in court.

Title 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
    PART I - CRIMES
    CHAPTER 44 - FIREARMS
Sec. 926A - Interstate transportation of firearms

Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console

In all honesty no one on here is really qualified to answer your question. Your best bet is to find an attorney who specializes in second amendment cases and get an answer from him then keep his card in your wallet in case you need him for court. You are going in dangerous territory with potentially life changing affects don't chance it from answers on a forum.

The “guns” need to be defined. Handgun or riffle? Do you have a CCW permit? These answers drastically change what you can/cannot do.

I travel to California on a regular basis and have had multiple discussions with law enforcement officers trying to do things correctly. I always keep the fire arm locked in the cab of my truck and the ammo locked up in the bed. I figure that way there is no debate whether I could access the ammunition or not. :notsure:
