I was heading to work and all the sudden the traction light and abs light lit up. When I would accelerate the rpm would shoot all the way up. I thought it was going to die, but I was able to exit the freeway and made it to the dealer.
Has anyone had this issues and what cause could be.
I did a search and could not find an answer.
Any advise would be greatly appreciate.TIA.

May have you some rodent damage to the wire harness.

Did you happen to check fuses?

Yes, that the first thing i did, the fuse box under the hood, all looked in tact . I didn’t check the one by the driver side door panel though.

Mileage? You may have a worn wheel bearing which can cause the tone ring and abs sensor to misalign or even destroy the sensor tip because the tone ring chews on it during rotation. Basically there is little clearance between the tone ring and sensor tip, then when the bearing goes the sensor tip gets into the tone ring on some vehicles. Not exactly sure on the Tundra though never had mine apart yet.

Not really serious, bearings are wear items, but at 57k should be fine unless you back a boat in the water without a diff breather relocate. Do you back in water??

Thats good to hear. No, no backing out of the water. Last time I towed was when I moved from CA to NV, like 3 years ago

I had this similar problem before on my previous truck. same symptoms. mine turned out to be a bad sensor. replaced the speed sensor and life is good.

Maybe an issue with the wheel speed sensor. They can cause a lot of things to go wrong. This past winter, mine got gummed up with wet snow and caused my abs and traction control lights to come on and wouldn't allow me to shift in and out of 4wd until it got cleared out.

but yea make sure you check everything else first. the sensors aint cheap. even the china brand autozone ones costs in the low 100s.
good luck and keep us posted!

ps: just realized youre in NV too...the desert heat are electronics' worst enemy.

Very true, I wish I would have done that and check and wipe them down. I wasn’t thinking straight early in the morning, my mind was more WTF, this FN sucks. This is the pic I took when it happened

I just got a call from the dealership, he said that technician found nothing wrong and the only the that he said was i have aftermarket stuff that is connected to my stop lamp circuit and I said what it that and he said that I have stuff connected to my brake lights, and I told him all i have is a led light and that was throwing the sign and he said yes, that’s all the code he was getting. That’s kinda hard to believe since I got those Led light bulb when I got my truck 4 yrs ago. So all they did was just reset the code. I guess I will pick it up and wipe down all my sensors.
Regarding the sensors, do i just wipe it down with water and towel or is there any other methods so I dont jack it up.
And if it happens again , just take it back.

I would unbolt them and carefully remove them by carefully pulling them out of their home. Then clean with a rag or old toothbrush and mild degreaser like simple green or dishsoap and water. Then reinstall. Emphasis on carefully, dont want to break the plastic! You may be able to just go to the car wash or use a pressure washer also. Place a jack under one corner at a time and spray all around inside wheel front and back to clean out the tone rings and the sensors. As you spray rotate the wheels to clean all around the brake parts really well to remove any and all foreign debris and brakedust buildup on the tone rings. Pretty sure the back tone rings are part of the bearings and sealed up. So you can really only clean the fronts as described at the car wash.

If it happens again go to auto parts store and ask them to scan abs system for faults.

Thanks for the detailed info. Im gonna wipe them down individually and I will definitely do that carefully. Thanks again.
I don’t have a pressure washer, would a hose do the same and just hose it down than taking it apart

Make sure they actually use a scanner that reads ABS. most of our autozones here in my area just uses a generic scanner so i just bought my own, DTC, ABS, and airbag codes scanner

I did drop it off at the dealer so hopefully that’s what they used. Is that an all in one scanner that you purchased. If you don’t mind would you know the name and model so I can just purchase one for later use. Thanks

Exact type of bullshit that keeps me from buying an extended warranty. Dealer blames on LED lights. Warranty is useless

This is what i have. Have it for a couple years now. A bit pricey but it's a very good tool to have. You can keep updating the firmware too so it can keep up with times.Screenshot_20211007-135343_Amazon Shopping.jpg

once you have aftermarket stuff , that always the answer.
They didn’t find nothing and just reset the vsc and abs light, i said nothing wrong with the sensors and they said no
But having the led light in my brake light could have triggered it.

Hose can't hurt, maybe spray in some simple green first and let is soak a bit before hosing. One piece of metallic crap in a tone ring opening removes the harmony and triggers the sensor, boom fault occurs.
