Hi guys basically I have 4 child on the way big family right now I am driving 2013 Acadia it’s ok car not bad but cheaply made some transmission issues not enough space for growing family. Looking to purchase used Toyota 4 runner out if question nit big enough and you might say Siena but I hate vans and my daddy in law has one all wheel drive and up here in Canada we have some bad winters and he got stuck multiple times and with 4 young kids I can’t have that so my search took me to this thing called Sequoia and I fell in love it has all the space nice big engine reliability plus something that will last me 10 years I also will use this truck as daily driver

I found one close to me dealer is asking $27.998 Canadian it has 155 thousand km 2012 SR5 leather any insight and thought appreciated

1.) Acadia is bigger than 4Runner and safer but not as reliable.

2.) At least in the USA, there was a recall on the Acadia transmissions (they were not good units). A friend of mine had theirs rebuilt then GM sent them a letter and sent him a check for the repair amount. The rebuild lasted about 50k after the original trans dies at 99k.

3.) The Acadia is safer than Sequoia.

    https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/gmc/acadia-4-door-suv/2011

4.) Acadia and sequoia are similar in size/ seating capacity

5.) Sienna is the best of all worlds. It is Safer, gets better gas mileage than your other choices and has available AWD. In addition it’s pretty reliable historically. It is easily the best family hauler of your choices.

I love my Sequoia. If I had that one, those damage multipliers on the bumpers would be gone fast.

    Good luck.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! We went through three Honda Odysseys raising our kids, and they were MUCH better than the full sized SUV we replaced. More room, better gas mileage, great reliability. You are making a mistake in not seriously considering the Sienna with 4 kids.

I just got a 13 Sequoia Limited Saturday. I’ve had a Tacoma, 4Runner, and Tundra prior. So far the sequoia is in the lead for my favorite Toyota. I love the space, power, and reliability. The turning radius and maneuverability is surprising for something so big.

I’ve always wanted a limited trim or better Sequoia with the power folding rear seats.

I had a 2008 sequoia for 11 years and 125k miles and didn't ever have a single issue with it. I still keep in touch with the guy that bought it from me 3 months ago it had 230k and still no issues at all! They are great. Also you won't believe the turning radius, tighter than some cars.

I’ll vote for a Sienna (or the Alabama built Odyssey) too. My wife drives an AWD Sienna with the car seats. We don’t get snow but it’s 100 times easier than a three row SUV for us. My MIL has an Acadia and it’s spacious, but the minivan layout is much easier to manage with kids. Lots of Canadian members on Siennachat.com to help you with a lift and snow tires if you have concerns there. Vanlife is all the rage so there is a growing van community and parts/mods to go along with that.

Sequoia is a good choice too, and the one you posted looks pretty clean. Never owned one personally, but have an old friend who traded his Yukon for one and is happy with the big Yota.

If your choice is between a Sienna and a Sequoia, you are most likely going to get a good vehicle reliability wise either way. Just comes down to what kind of confidence you have in the vehicle for snow/safety and your personal preference if you are daily driving.

Love our sequoia! Mine is an 08 but runs, drives, and looks like a 2020. l recently bought a Diesel BMW X5 to replace it but decided to hang on to it and sold the BMW. The sequoia is a great fit for us but I only have 2 children. A minivan may be the only prudent choice for you though, and the new Sienna has AWD and some decent towing capacity. I wouldn't think twice about driving one of those, minivans have come a long way in style and capability!

    Make a decision yet?

Saw this one on autotrader, the inside looks to be in great shape, the previous owner used the weathertek mats which is a plus. Drivers seat has barely any wear.

Few things I noticed are the left and right struts on the liftgate have a bit of rust, the seal on these lifgates are horrible, the struts are basically exposed to the elements. Mine are similar but still work well and wouldnt be much to replace. Tires look a little worn but hard to say for sure. It’s also the smaller of the two V8 engines if that matters. Maybe confirm with them 4hi/lo are working properly?
