I received a letter from Toyota yesterday, about the case, saying they have reached a deal and that you can start getting your trucks inspected for rust. They will replace the frame if its bad enough,if not they will put some kind of coating on it,they list the states that are covered,so be on the look out for it.I think you can go to that lawyer web page that posted before.I will be getting mine check out, though my frame looks pretty good to me.

    I got Letter also.

Either way, they will apply antirust treatment.

Anyone able to comment if they remove the bed liner to check underneath also?

I did not get anything. I have a lot of surface rust all over the underside of my truck. Took to Toyota they said just use Rustoleum and keep spraying it down..... I am like WTF.

Called my dealer about my 08. They said it was not affected. I am glad it spent the last ten years in Nashville and not here in the twin cities. Too late to apply for the class action lawsuit too. Peace. D

If you got the letter in the mail from Toyota, you should be covered,i would still call a dealer and find out cant hurt.I called and made my appointment today to get mine checked.A friend took his last week and told him his was fine, but they still will coat it anyway,he said it will take 2 days to get done.

I just got a letter for my 05 tacoma for the rust recall so I went out and did the hammer test on the frame. I managed to knock a hole in the boxed section about an inch wide. I also found quite a few soft spots that will most likely be holes after this winter.
I am little shocked about this since I have spent alot of time, money, and effort keeping this from happening. Fluid film is no match for a toyota frame! I sure hope the frame on my 08 tundra holds up better. Why can't toyota learn from their mistakes????

I think the good news is that if you got the letter for your 05 then they will fix the damage the rust has caused, maybe a whole new frame as long as they make it right that's the important thing.

I stopped in for an alignment and the woman behind the counter told me that I need to get my frame checked. The guy wasn't working during the time I was there so she wants me to come back. Same thing said they'll totally replace it or fix any rust spots. Mine doesn't seem to look too bad for an 08. I still plan on having it checked out though.

I just traded in my 06 Tacoma for a 13 tundra... The 06 frame was inspected 2 years ago and treated with anti corrosion from dealer... 2 years later and it looked like it was never treated. The anti corrosion treatment is a joke... All they did was cover up the rust....

Did they just do some spots? How bad was your frame. I have an 08 but does not seem bad. I still want it checked out though.

My frame was not rusted. They apply protection to prevent rust.

Sorry, no pics.. If they undercoat it toyota is just buying time. They won't replace your frame in the future

Got those s letter as well. They ended up replacing the entire frame on the 04 limited my dad is driving. The dealer was also willing to change any parts for free that I wanted to change. Think we ended up doing new shocks etc. since they were removing them anyways. Just had to pay for the parts. 340k miles still running strong.

    The coating is temporary.
Lots of discussion about it over in the tacoma forums. Like a band aid on a bullet wound..

    Don’t be sorry not going.

Nothing tried, noting done! Bring it in.

Dealer says if there is any change as the years goes by then bring it back.

My frame is currently soaked with fluid film so I have no plans on taking it to a dealership.
