Toyota newbie after 30 years with GMC

Hello all! My first week as a Toyota owner was fantastic!! Than I was left stranded with truck loaded up ready too drive to new house and the tundra won't start!! Display reads not ready to drive and won't engage starter. Truck is useless and I had to borrow a truck and reload to get moved. Never been stranded with my GMC in 30 years. Tow truck has never been a word over used it even thought of until now!! Not a great first impression!!

Hello. Just moved to Sparks (Spanish springs) yesterday from Reno. Unfortunately my tundra couldn't make the trip!!!

 

Any idea what the issue is/was?

No idea. Still sitting in my driveway at my old house. Calling dealer in morning to see if it needs to be towed in. Hoping for an easy fix.

 

Welcome from SW Washington. I too have owned GM trucks before and they never left me stranded either. Ford, yes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed too. I'm not that impressed with my Tundra since buying it last February. I hope it never leaves me stranded either.

 

One week exactly before I was stranded. On worst possible day!!

 

Sorry to hear that, i had a 2016 Chevy Silverado gm leaked water like diarrhea into the cabin, it smelled like mildew then I traded it for the tundra.

I can't drive it either cause it sucks gas like a hog. Lol I need gas money I'll come help.

You buy it used or new.

I'm a little disappointed in mileage as well but 35s and supercharger will do that!!

 

It's man made. It will eventually fail, lol. Just depends on where and what.

Some just do it more often than others, I can guarantee you Toyota isn't perfect, far from it.

 

My mileage isn't too bad with the 4.7L, about the same as my Excursion with 7.3L diesel.

 

Welcome! Sorry to hear about your troubles with your truck. It sounds like you bought it used. I wonder if what your experiencing is why the previous owner got rid of it. Who knows what the previous owner might have done to it.

 

I'm actually the previous owner. The truck has been very well cared for. Sometimes shit just happens... Hopefully, it's just a bad battery.

 

The message is normal when the truck is not running, hopefully its just a dead battery. When my factory battery failed it did so without any warning. Went into my son's wrestling practice for 2 hours, came out and nothing. Gave up trying to jump it after 20 minutes
