Toyota kills V8 development

Hmmm...That Toyota V8 in development looks remarkably like an LS push-rod engine under all that aftermarket glitz. So, it's true?...Toyota is shutting down all push-rod V8 engine development?

 

I have a 2018 OHC with less that 10K miles on it and a keeper for me.

For others, you can rejoice and let your resale value begin escalating!!

 

Just went out and looked. Mine is a V8. Can't trust the sticker anymore so I recommend everyone check for themselves.

I never heard any evidence actually cited, quoted, or attributed, but then I only made it to about 00:25.

 

It’s the multi-displacement option. You can leave a couple pistons at home to save weight and increase fuel economy if you want.

If you rotate your pistons regularly they’ll wear more evenly too.

Just because they are not developing new motors does not mean they won't be using their current designs for years to come.

 

@Rex Kramer says we can’t trust the window sticker, so I went to double check that I had an actual Toyota Tundra With a 5.7L since it’s debadged. Wouldn’t you know it I pulled the cylinder heads off and it’s a freakin’ Ram with a Hemi. Lawsuit!

Eh, I'm good with this. IDC about noise or heritage, or how it supposed to be or any crazy shit like that. As long as it makes power, looks good and is overall reliable.

 

I wasn’t going to say anything because I didn’t want to sound like a complainer, but when I changed my spark plugs a few weeks ago only 6 of them showed wear. Now I’m wondering if Toyota just increased the displacement on 6 cylinders so they could still market it as a 5.7, but killed the other 2 cylinders and just left them there so we would assume that it was still a V8. I guess I didn’t notice with the supercharger....Wait a minute. What if I don’t really have a supercharger? It’s not listed on the window sticker. Maybe the new 5.7 V8-2 in the 2019+ has that much more power and makes a whining sound! Either way I’m calling Toyota to let them know, but I’ll still drive it like I stole it!

 

Somewhere in Japan there is a room that has a 5.7 running non stop with no oil or lubrication. I heard it has been running non stop since 2007 and the engineers stopped showing up to work in 2016. Instead, they sit at home and read article after article about Fords new engine of the year and all the redesigns and how efficient they are. Too bad none of the engineers know anything about engines though. They should probably redesign everything. That will fix the problems and reliability issues the 5.7 has.

I've tried to watch some of his, and I don't remember what one it was where he was just so wrong that I couldn't continue. It almost makes me think the guy is acting, as in playing a character, for the sake of youtube views.

 

The best optic move would be to confirm that by filing a video about why steam power is more practical for daily transportation than internal combustion.

 

That would be hilarious, but then he'd lose the hard core believers that follow his every word like it's gospel. Not sure he'd make up that loss with people watching it for the comedy, because it's an annoying AF character he has created.
