She traded in a 2016 Nissan Juke with 25k miles for a 2018 Nissan Rogue with 33k miles to get a bigger vehicle and lower her payments/interest rate.

She loves the new car and lowered her rate by 5% and payments by $100. Everybody happy...

But, she viewed the free Carfax they gave her and it showed that it was a rental car and had 7 prior vehicle sales transactions everywhere from the East coast, to Oklahoma, to California.

Red flags. But, she loved the car and signed the papers anyway without having me or anyone else look at it.

Dealer is the only Toyota dealer in the area and she thought she could trust them. Big mistake.

My dad and I were checking out her new car last night and found major, major issues.

First of all, the entire care has been repainted. Poorly.

There is hail damage on the roof that is unrepaired (she is short and couldn't see the roof).

There is extensive corrosion on the engine and under the dash. Looks like flood damage.

I ran a couple of free VIN checks and none of them indicate any damage, and certainly not the damage that is obvious to anyone with any sort of autobody or mechanical experience.

Not sure what she can do, but I am absolutely livid!

Toyota of Pullman is running a very lucrative scam!

If anybody has access to Carfax, VIN is

Rental companies never report damage, it's one of the reasons to never buy a rental car. They don't report maintenance (maybe because it's not done) and everyone beats them hard.

Sometimes Carfax messes up and shows the wrong records, all I can see is the 1 rental owner. The red flag is being listed and sold in Sacramento, I'm guessing it was crashed at the dealership and they sent it back to the auction.
The miles are weird too, at the Kia dealer it had 31,531 but 32,008 when it was sold. And then the Toyota listing had 33,029

I would start real nice at the dealer trying to return the vehicle. Give me my old car back please. This was not a good trade and I was deceived. You took advantage of a lady. If all else fails raise hell! Mention BBB

Did they try and cover it up, or disclose it? Do you know they were aware of it?

Looking closer at the corrosion, not sure if it's actual flood damage or just being driven in an area with lots of salt on the roads...

Can't really tell by the pics regarding any type of flood damage, but there is definitely some paint/body work that was not done up to par.

rental companies have their own paint/body department so they probably fixed it up themselves so it won't show up on any carfax.

Is there a "window" from the signing of the contract" to when you can cancel the deal? I want to say that when I bought the Tundra 2.75 years ago and got some financing at the dealership I had.......5 days (?) to bail out. Maybe 3. Seems like there was a window. Though a short window. I'm in Alabama.

I see clear signs of flood damage on the OP's wimminz car. Dang.

Folks. Again. If you buy used you MUST inspect for flood damage. 2 years ago both Texas and Florida flooded massively. Sadly, douche bag phookers have found ways to get these vehicles into the used truck/car market.
