I just bought a 2018 SR5 double cab in Barcelona Red last week and ordered the Toyota brand stepboards. Had them installed this week at the dealer and picked it up today. I was surprised that the black steps were made of cheap feeling, thin plastic. I was expecting that they would have a rubber step or solid plastic at least. For those who have the Toyota boards, do you like them and have they held up for you?

A little of this and a little of that.
I took mine off to replace them with some Demello Off-road sliders. The Toyota running boards held up just fine for stepping on just don’t try and move any rocks with them. I liked them ok just wanted something more solid for 4x4ing.

Thanks, TruckinIt. The roughest road my truck will likely see is a gravel boat launch, so they should be OK. I do like the way they look so I am now planning to keep them at least until the 3 year warranty from the dealer is up.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome. Glad to be able to join the site as a Tundra owner. I have ordered a Leer 100XR canopy that will be here in a few weeks.

Looks a lot like my new Limited. I had my dealer put on the chrome step from Toyota Canada. They look nice but might show scratches easier. Love the truck so far but only have 600 miles on it. I’m retired with 2 other Toyota’s. I got the Tundra for towing my travel trailer.9F3CC092-7F59-4D10-BCDE-37894A6FE428.jpg

Love that red! I drove the TRD Sport but I am really only going to drive on roads and I didn't like the stiffness of the TRD shocks vs the ride in the SR5. I tow a 19 foot Lund boat. I did get the SR5 upgrade package with the bucket seats, premium Entune, 18" wheels and bigger tank.

Looking at both of the pictures you guys posted, the steps on your rails are different than mine from Toyota. My steps wrap over the edge of the rail and I can reach my fingers up under the edge and feel how thin the plastic is (which bugs me).

I still have mine. They work fine so far for what they do. The wife and kids find it stable enough to get in and out of the truck. Came with the truck so no reason to replace them right away.
