It’s one of those things that I know I didn’t like as a kid in my teens but probably worth a shot again if I find the right stuff.

    It was really weird..

The place was literally a rodeo arena, we knew that going in.
The last time I was there, I was taking my kids to the rodeo, probably 20 years ago.
The last time my wife was there, she saw Dwight Yoakam I'd say 13 years ago.

We had no idea the event was a local school district fundraising function.
We walked in, no ticket takers, anyone could have walked in.
There was an auction going on when we got there, fundraising for the district.
I'm mean fast-talking auctioneer, auctioning off vacation packages, jewelry, even a 12-week old Cockapoo puppy (it went for $7K).

They had no full bar, only beer.
The only beer they had was Miller Lite and Coors Light and it was free.
Fortunately, they had fresh-cut limes so I was able to choke a few Coors lights down.
They got better the more I drank 'em.

Pat started at 8:30 as stated on the tickets, we got there around 7:30.
They started at 8:30, last call for the free beer was 9:00.

I saw her back in the day, my wife and I saw her 6 years ago at an outdoor festival.
They played for about 75 minutes, got all the hits in.
She looked great, they sounded great.

    It was a great time...

    EDIT:
Wife bought the tickets and told me about it a few weeks ago.
Now that I look at the ticket, it does note the school district foundation.

I wish I could donate, however I cannot until 2153. That's not a typo.i guess I spent too much time in the UK during the Mad Caw Disease. Bummer.

Get the stuff in the refrigerated section at the store. Bubbies is decent - their tastes more like a pickle than anything. Olykraut is another that’s not bad…but we don’t buy much at the store.
My wife started making it at home about 7 years ago and I was like “have fun!” because my roomies in college ate that vile shit that came in a can on their brats and it stunk the whole house up.

When that first batch she made didn’t smell like the crap I had remembered, I gave it a taste and I’ve been enjoying it ever since. She’s done so many varieties of flavors, it’s incredible. And curtado, and kimchi, and lacto-fermented dilly beans, etc.

You are dead on about the sauerkraut. Cabbage is so easy to grow here and kraut is so easy to make, it would be sad not to enjoy it. Of course getting your tastebuds outside the mainstream supermarket rut is an essential step in the path to a vaguely independent subsistence lifestyle. Preserving what you can grow, raise, forage and harvest hinges on appreciating what you can can, pickle, ferment, dry, and freeze. Different flavors of kraut are a pretty good example

Around here it’s Hells Angels. At the height of the Sons of Anarchy craze, some locals started their own wannabe club and started some petty criminal shit. They must of stepped on some toes, cause the local Angels chapter rolled in and pretty much decimated anything these guys owned.

Here’s a fun local Angels story.
    https://www.masslive.com/news/2014/09/caius_veiovis_left_hells_angel.html

The bodies were dumped in one of our state parks.

google image Caius, it’s a treat.

Yeah, there's a lot of them around here. They give me any shit, and I'll flash one of my ToyoMafia slaps at them (the reflective one so it causes temporary blindness). While they are windmilling and shooting wildly, I'll trip Mrs. Bandito and make a run for it.

    LOL
All the ones I've worked with have been salt of the earth guys. They'd give you the shirt of their backs if you needed it. No doubt there's a dark side to the MC clubs though (they are proud of the 1% badge).

My daughter & I went down to donate for a blood drive at her high school. I filled out the little questionnaire on their computer and that came back with the answer. It was a surprise to me for certain.

So, today I’m gonna get my right eye operated on (Wednesday is the left eye)
Since I’m right handed, and use the right eye for sighting, my compound will be vulnerable to attack for a few hours. I’m gonna activate the automatic laser targeting system and the land mines, so don’t pay me any surprise visits.
