What’s up! I have a 30ft Ultra Lite Outback TT that I used to tow with my 17 Tundra with a weight distribution setup, worked perfect but only had a leveling kit added. Now my 21 has a 6 inch lift and 35s. Just thinking if it’ll alright/safe on the road. Only tow a few times a year.

From my experience, towing with several lifted vehicles from 1/2 trucks to SUVs to Jeeps and 4Runners- towing with a lifted vehicle can get a little dicey at times. What is simple and no drama towing with a stock truck and turn into a long white knuckle ride in a lifted vehicle. There are just so many factors involved.

Higher center of gravity, more weight from the big rims/tires (and whatever else you added) and reduced gearing (big tires again) makes things like wind or road surface imperfection become larger issues when you are lifted.

If you are within your payload (with the new lift, tires, accessories you added and tongue weight of the trailer/camper) you should be good to go. Keep speed down. High speed sway can be more of a problem with a lifted truck and those big tires are going to take a lot longer to stop, especially when towing. If you are careful and within your payload numbers you should be good to go.

I have had only one experience where a lifted truck performed BETTER than stock- and that is my 4th Gen 4Runner. The stock suspension was really soft. When I switched to an OME suspension (about 2.75 lift) it handled much better all around and the stronger rear coils really helped with towing. First and only time so far where a lifted truck felt better towing than a stock one.

    I'm towing lifted with a 7 inch and 35's. I don't have any issues. But I'm only towing 3000lbs. Personally I wouldn't tow lifted with a 30ft TT..

6” lift on 35”s No issues. (other than lousy gas mileage) It’s a fairly light TT , just under 4000#

What does the trailer weigh? How much on the tongue?

Thanks for the input everyone! Really appreciate it. Definitely want to avoid any dicey situations while towing close to 8k#. I live in CA and travel up to WA sometimes with the trailer.

Watch the hitch weight. With a couple of passengers and gear you’ll start getting close to payload capacity.
