When I use tow/haul on the twisty mountain roads where I live I get .5 to 1 mpg improvement but when I'm on the freeway my mpg drops by .5 mpg. (4.6L)

right after I bought my truck, I was moving and I pulled a 6x12 uhaul trailer around town for several days (3-5k pounds loaded). the tow/haul mode made a huge difference in performance. It would hold each gear for longer and at a higher rpm.. if I didn't use the tow/haul mode, the transmission would be in too low of a gear and the truck would lug down. the downside is that I got 12 mpg or so. its definitely worth using it when you are towing though.
