Torque Spec on Carrier Bearing (Shaft) Nut?

2002 Tundra 4x4 SR5 Access Cab V8. New Carrier Bear and Nut going on in place of the old. Need spec. Thank you.

The lack of me having a SST Tool is making me now readjust my strategy of having the heavy truck shop do the carrier bearing install. Was just gonna skip the u-joints but will have them done simultaneously. I’ll just remove the propeller and take it up there and let them have fun with it. Pick it up and reinstall.

I wonder if I could bolt the other end of the propeller to a wall and use that as leverage instead of this SST Tool? Or, just crank off the nut with the other end still attached to the transfer case?

 

I did it without anything special, since it's only torqued to 60 it isn't real hard to get off. A couple whacks with a dead blow hammer and the flange and bearing came off easily. Whole job took maybe 45 minutes.

 

Is that nut 24mm? I ordered a new OEM one, but it didn’t specify the size. Should be here tomorrow.

 

I don't recall off the top of my head, it took a pretty good size socket. I know I didn't have a large enough metric, used a 1 1/8" I believe.

 

Here is the OEM carrier shaft nut (24mm). Total cost with shipping $6.02.

 

I thought he asked for torque specs for the carrier bearing?
