2008 cm 5.7. theres too much oil coming out the pcv valve to the intake. i replaced the separator case and pcv valve with oem parts, good compression. and still does it, to the point it fills my catch can in like a 15 mile trip

You need to do a leak down test. Comp tests are just one part of the process. Oil control rings can be bad while the comp rings are fine.

Any coolant missing? Excess steam out tailpipe? Possible head gasket leak?

So we're sure oil is not overfilled?

If PCV is removed, is there some vaccum at PCV inlet at idle?

Does it smoke at all??? If the engine is not returning the oil to the Pan this can happen. Pull the oil filter and make sure it's not collapsed and bypassing. Blow bye is not a good sign but check everything over and make sure all the oil is not standing in the top half of the engine before you tear into it or trade it off.

the oil comes from the oil separator case wich is under the intake manifold, out the pcv valve to the intake the it gets burn inside the combustion chamber, yess it does smoke when it happens.

Does it only smoke upon start-up?

yes. after it sit for a while and under heavy acceleration, it sucks the oil from the separator case.

If the oil rings on the pistons collapsed, the compression rings will still be good that's why you have good compression. Collapsed oil rings are from not changing your oil. You can try a top end cleaner that you run through the intake while in hi revs, then finish off with water. It sometimes works. Or go rebuild your engine.

I am having the same issue on my 2005 4.7

One day I go to start up and giant cloud of whitish smoke fills the street. This happens nearly every time I start up, and occasionally at stop with acceleration. I smell it, burning rubber. I have had a vehicle before with coolant leak and it is definitely not coolant or condensation. I am burning oil, approx. a quart every 2-300 miles.

I come on here and other forums. I go through all the following steps.

    Sea foam
    Stop Leak
    Heavier Oil
    Change PCV with OEM
    Valve Cover Gaskets
Look inside intake, a coat of oil, but not a pourable amount.
My mechanic compression test - 145-155. Leak down also fails, don't have the exact numbers
Toyota 2nd opinion - same exact results. So clearly I have a major engine problem, rings and pistons are probably shot and valve seals are not holding seal.

    Replace or Rebuild Engine?
I went with the rebuild. Found a engine shop that would do it and offer a warranty. Get it back drives fine for a few days. Boom huge cloud of white smoke. The truck drives like a dream. Engine runs smooth, definitely more power and better ride than before rebuild. But I am still burning a lot of oil. And with a rebuild I shouldn't be.

The truck goes back and forth to the shop for a few months. He claims he tears down the whole engine again and everything looks good on his end. He tells me his compression test is 205-215 and leak down is 2-5%. Engine shop has no answers, we are in a legal battle, but the courts are all backed up from Covid. I really need to get my truck running right.

Take it to Toyota for a 2nd opinion. They come back with very similar compression and leak down numbers.

I am pretty certain that oil is being sucked up in the intake through the PCV. I have swapped out additional 2 OEM PCV, all 3 are still rattling. If I pull the PCV tube, the suction from the intake is pretty hard, like a powerful vacuum on my finger. Clearly my engine is sucking oil into itself.

Install a catch can yesterday, my hope is that catch can will lessen the vacuum. Run it hard, stop and go, highway, I put about 35 miles on. Get home catch can is nearly full, pour it out, get about 4.5oz of straight motor oil.

Why is my engine sucking up so much oil out of the crankcase?
