Tonneau Cover Recommendation?

I'm in the market for a Tonneau Cover for my 2018 DoubleCab Standard Bed Tundra. The cover on my 2011 Tundra was an Extang Trifecta. I liked a lot of things about it, but I didn't like that I had to remove it completely to pick up loads of mulch or compost. It also would not have worked if I wanted to use a rack on the bed rails to carry bikes or kayaks.

So, is there a cover that meets all of the following criteria:

    1) Does not need to be removed to pick up loads of mulch/dirt or compost.
    2) Does not interfere with installing a rack on the bed rails.
    3) Compatible with the factory deck rail system.
    4) Not too heavy (I tow horses and want to make sure I keep plenty of payload available for water/hay and what have you).

    Thanks!

I have a BakFlip MX4 and it works great for me, fits with or without bedrails, spray on bed liner no issues, can load up to 300 lbs evenly spread on top of it.

I had the Revolver, held up really good for 3 years, then it got caught in a windstorm and yanked up and out of the rails smashing some side clips. Partially my fault as I think it was slightly out of alignment after a couple months of neglect and not checking the screw tightness. I have since been talking about it behind its back and now have my eyes set on a Diamondback.

It is a Trac Rack SR, I had it powder coated black because the silver was ugly on my truck... Can't have a rack that looks like asstoast.

Does that cover do a good job of keeping everything dry? Did you have the factory rail system back there?

It relocates the oem deck railing 2" lower and keeps things 95% dry... A little drip at the tail gate corners.
I am 100% happy with it. So easy to use. Works with bikes too.IMG_20180225_163350~2.jpg

I have a truxedo low pro cover.
It works well and is pretty low cost.
    https://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-covers/truxedo-lo-pro-soft-roll-up-tonneau-cover

Not as secure as the bak revolver due to being fabric, but it has been my experience that items out of sight is 90% of the security.

It is also lighter and takes up less space when folded up.

I am not sure how it would work with a rack tho as I have no personal experience there.

Had mine installed "professionally" and it never fit right. A gust of wind and it came up, out and bent a few places. Installer claims I set something heavy on it, reported it to Bak and I can't get it replaced.

It also doesn't seal at the tailgate. It doesn't flood the box, but it's annoying enough and I don't trust it.

Not going with another one of those for those reasons.

x2- I’ve had the Rugged Cover for few weeks and really like it. I don’t believe it’s the “2”, as I don’t have the attached LED lights in the back. Have taken it off a few times now, very easy and almost 20lbs lighter than the OEM Cover my Tacoma had.

I have the Backflip MX4. I love it. It comes with plates to lower the bed rails a few inches so they still work. If you fold it up all the way, it leans against the back of the cab. Pads come with it so cab doesn’t get scratched. And prop rods hold it open. Once folded all the way up, almost the whole bed is open. I’ll post pictures later.

I have the soft roll up from American Tonneau. I really love it. It fits the bed nicely, has kept the bed dry through several Florida rain storms, and has some hidden metal cross bars that allows some weight to be placed on it if need be. As an added bonus, they threw in an American flag and pole that mounts to your house. I really wanted a hard tonneau, but couldn't afford one. But, now that I have the American Tonneau, I don't think I'll switch it until the vinyl on this one is shot to s$^%.

Yea mine dripped at the 4 corners, which wasn't too bad until I left my shoes there a couple times. Not sure if any cover is 100% waterproof. But in Canada I like it for the snow protection the most. I also liked the extra protection of it not being just fabric and still being able to roll all the way out of the way. Definitely hoping for a back friday sale on Diamondbacks though.

Looks good. Is there a problem with the deck rail system? I need to use the deck rail a lot for my dirt bikes and the likes. Your pictures make it look like the deck rail tie down points are unusable.

I ended up going with the Truxedo Lo Pro- very similar to the recommended Truxedo Pro X15, but a little cheaper and not as low profile. I would guess that they install in the same way. The deck rail tie down points are still usable, but because the mounting brackets for the cover are installed into the deck rail, the tie down points can only be moved in between the deck rail brackets where they are located and not along the entire length of the deck rail. So, it depends on which locations you need the deck rail tie down points to be in. There are 3 tonneau cover brackets on each rail, one goes 8 inches in from the rear of the bed, another goes 8 inches in from the front of the bed, the third goes in the center- I put each tie down point between an end bracket and the center bracket.

Pretty much what he says below. Still liking it and believe it's a great way to go for a sturdy soft cover. You could have a full length deck rail mounted as long as they are designed to use the stake holes as their securing point and don't extend to0 far inward. There are systems out there that have that capability though they are fewer than the other systems out there.

How is it to take off with the Factory installed bedliner you have?

If you have a drop-in bed liner, will the bed covers sill work the same or is there a better recommendation for this?

I have the factory sprayed in bedliner. So no removal issues. So many drop in bedliner designs I can't speak to that but any of them would be trimmable/modifiable I would imagine.
