Tire cracks

i only use truck to tow boat so my tires are 5 years old good tred left
But see cracks in them in tred
They said it was normal for tires that old but dont trust while towing
What do you think

 

I wouldn’t use the cracked tires. It could cause an accident or damage your boat/truck. I’d get new tires

 

5 years old is a pretty old tire. Imagine if it was your daily driver. You would have worn the tires down by now and been replaced. Tires degrade in sunlight and not last forever.
I would replace them and then keep them covered up

 

My cousin pirchased a used BMW drove it for 12 years and only had 1 set of Pirellis the entire time he had it put maybe 100k on it too

 

Tires crack more when you don’t drive them

 

Ya 35 x12.0 18. With good tred life on them just hate to throw away cause they cost so much

 

How far do you tow the boat? If its across town then run them. 7 hrs to the lake? That would suck to have a blowout

 

I drove on some cracked tires just recently. Had a blow out and realized the risk was not worth it. Won't do that again

 

Any suggestions on decent tire that isn’t going to break the bank. I said this before only use to tow boat and camping so tires will probably last 5 years again lol

 

Tires have a manufacturing date on them I think they say change them out after six yrs google it .

 

Anybody reading here should know 5 years is max life on vehicle tires and 3 years on trailer tires. Regardless of miles. Stay safe my friends.
