Alrighty boys n girls...looking for recommendations.

Have been running the Renegade R7 35” for a shade over 2 yrs and 30k miles. The set of 4 ran about $700. They were cheap, yes, but at the end of the day, I am pretty happy with them.

They saw a bunch of nasty desert trailing, deep mud, deep snow and ice. They’ve hauled loaded trailers (9+k) for thousands of miles, and thousands more miles of some of the worst pot-holed roads in the country.

In those 2 years, they never needed a rebalance and were rotated every 6k miles.

Alas, it’s time they meet their maker.

    Who’s running what out there?
I’ve always been a fan of the BFG, but the reviews of late haven’t been that great.

    Looking for opinions!!

    Cheers!
    Bear

Check out Cooper ST Maxx, STT Pro, AT3 XLT. All of these tires are reasonably priced, made in USA, and have good reviews. I have the Maxx's and Pro's and no regrets. The new XLTs are getting great reviews.

I’ve run the STT in the past on my FJ. Loved it! Oddly, they don’t seem to have them in a 35” on 18 wheel!?!?

35s are perfect, though I wouldn’t sneeze at a 37. Unfortunately, I occasionally tow in the 5-7k range, with a few times going to max capacity. The 37s May be a bit much in those situations. :(

Oh, and I Uber/Lyft a few hours a week when I head into the city for errands. It’s fun watching someone climb up into the beast as it is—higher WOULD be more hilarious.

The BFGs do come in 35" on the 18. Lots of members have them and like them. Lots of good tires to choose from. Toyo. Nitto. I had Nitto Trail GapplerM/Ts. Not as good as my STT Pros but still pretty good. I think you can get them in a 35 on 18 and the Ridge Grapplers too.

At my age I usually get about 12 strokes out of em before they need replacement, er.... wrong forum :0
I've been running Duratracs for a year, love them! Running at 33 psi so that might be too soft for some but I don't drive like I stole it. Had freezing rain and ice Friday and never needed 4wd to get to work, color me impressed. They got a little noisy but for the tread and size it's expected.

Well some people might no longer like the BFGs but i swear by them. I purposely went up to a 35 and caused myself more work to the truck in doing so, cause they didnt come in a 295 or 305/70. They are not the greatest on wet pavement but with the 35/12.5/18 you have more rubber on the road and still perform well when wet out. Not too mention, the highway ride, quietness, and overall durability. They still make a great tire, just some people dont like them on wet roads.

That’s been my take as well. They did great when they were new. And I ran my last set on my FJ for 40k+ miles. When they get to that half tread point though, they got a little dicey. Seeing as I can count on wet/snow/ice driving 80% of the year, so I’ve shied away.

I had a set on my 2014 Tundra, rotated every 5k miles. They lasted for 4 years til i traded it in at 78k miles. Not 1 flat or balancing issue. Down here in TX where we dont get much if any snow/ice they have been great to me. Good Luck on your search, if i did have to switch based on my research id probably give the Duratracs a try.

Duratracs, STT Pro, not sure about the BFG muds though. Never tried them out or have any buddies running them.

For AT’s, I’d go Cooper or Nitto, even Toyo RT’s
Toyo AT’s are a little dicey in wet conditions and doesn’t move mud as well as I’d like

Nice, I was about to mention those. They look agressive and the tire tread looks like it will be pretty quiet as well.
