Tie rod replacement and any suggestions?

Yesterday had my Toytec coilovers, SPC Uca's and Toytec shackles installed. Took it to Toyota for alignment and they screwed it up. Pulls to the right and they said due to corrosion they could only adjust so much. I know the SPC Uca's help for some of the alignment. To be honest I don't think they knew what they were doing. The alignment was a lot better before I had anything done. Do you think I should just buy new tie rods and have them replaced considering I'm having issues every time they try and do an alignment? If so any recommendations which ones. I really do not want to drive the truck like this. Any help appreciated

 

I'm no help in this matter but I'm going to tackle this same install next weekend, so I'm here for the same possible issue. Off subject but do you have any before and after pics?

Replacing tie rod ends wont fix your problem. Take the truck to a reputable alignment shop and have them align it properly.
Worn out tie rod ends would affect toe.

 

Did you give them the SPC alignment instructions? It looks like they weren't adjusting the uca's for camber/caster per the instructions.

Yes I did. I just got back from another shop that was recommended from my installer. Here are my new specs compared to yesterday's. I don't know after everything has been installed after driving it there seems to be like a vibration I can feel when I first start taking off. Don't know what that could be?

 

Also noticed that my driver side front wheel sits more under my flares than my passenger side.

 

Other than your camber still wasn't set "well" (ie, matching both sides), your other numbers are similar to mine. Its easy to nail the camber with the spc's so it may be another case of lazy work.

So it's the SPC Uca's not set identical I am gathering. That's why the one wheel is tucked under some. Any idea what the vibration could be? Sort of feels like my driveshaft I can't explain it. Could the new rear shackles have anything to do with this

 

Doesn't sound like you're in the market for new tie rod ends but, I damaged one of mine installing my C/O's. I fixed it with a Coachbuilder steering kit instead of going back to OEM.

 

Is it a shudder on acceleration? Did you install a carrier bearing drop?

 

Yah, I'm not sure what all you changed, but a driveshaft shudder is usually fixed with carrier bearing drop. Call coachbuilder, he has a calculator that will tell you the exact thickness you'll need to realign your drive shaft. The SPC's have infinite range of camber within the spec, so the camber setting is purely up to how much effort was put into adjusting the bug nut on top in the elongated hole. (caster is adjusted by rotating the plate on the bottom side of that elongated hole)

Well, they're stout. Overall I'm pleased. Alignment "techs" love to use channel locks on 'em and eff up the PC. I've had alignment shops that are unwilling to pop them off the spindle and to make proper adjustments. So, they kinda need to be close when installed. (hard to explain but threaded in or out) I'm off road frequently and they make a lot of noise when they're dirty. @InfernoPRO informed me that boots are now included to cover the heim and keep them cleaner and reduce maintenance. Because they're straight and beefy, it's possible for them to hit the spring perch but only in, what I'd call, extreme applications, ie 3.0 shocks with a lot of caster.
