I was just returning tools to the garage from another Tundra project this evening and happened upon some old photos of my first Tundra!

It was definitely a blast from the past. It was a 2000 Thunder Grey Metallic SR5 4x4 Access Cab! I was a thrilled 19 or 20 year old lad with one of the first Tundras in my side of the state! My oh my was it a beaut and I have had seller’s remorse ever since.

Well what can you do? My wife and I were expecting our third child (of 6) a year and change later, we had well over half of it paid off! We freaked and sold it poorly to ready the basement of our then house for the new addition...

I guess, 19 years later, I am back in a Tundra (a nice one at that) and still looking over and around for my first gen that I loved oh so!

So what vehicle(s) did you love before?

    Holy moly, Batman!
That is quite the collection, impressive rides!
I am currently looking into a double cab like the maroon one you had.

Whelp, my current truck is my first and only Toyota, so my history is full of SOBs

My dream F150...too bad it was such a POS
    A1E58AAC-672A-4491-A312-721A1BD3EC08.jpg

This was my 2010 F350. Amazing truck...the V10 was a monster and at $100/wk in fuel it broke the bank.
    EA863E0A-6981-41E1-92EB-8419D7505A32.jpg

Got this '07 GMC before the DPFs went into effect. That Duramax (LBZ) and Allison transmission were amazing. The rest of the truck was junk.

This is my '03 GMC with the quadrasteer. This truck was fun but true to a GM product, I was at the dealership once a month. I got two calls from the dealership after I sold it to tell me the parts they had to order had arrived. That's how many repairs I was waiting for...and why it I sold it...
    8D48D2D8-08D3-4D6D-B946-92C5796357F1.jpg

The truck on the trailer is my wife's grandfather's truck. He was done driving it so I grabbed it. Had big dreams to restore it, but it just leaked oil in my garage for years before I donated it.

Oh my, I had forgotten all about my ‘99 F250 with the triton V10! It was a beast but broke the bank with fuel as well. I had it less than a year...

I was always intrigued by the quadra steer. My coworker was the only that had one that I knew of. She always loved to show off while parking in the office lot. Pretty cool until one day she didn’t show up with it because it was having “work done” on it. She later got rid of it and I only saw her drive a Camry forever after that...

Lots of stories, it delivered me to elementary school all the way through college and after. Eventually too many hackjobs got the best of it, and I decided there were better projects to pursue so I parted ways with it. First dates, college, learning to weld, building my own long travel, running out of gas, rolling, blowing the engine, etc. etc. etc. Makes me wish it was still parked in the shop waiting to get fixed, but the Tundra has spoiled me with comfort and a 3rd gen is not a roomy rig and not particularly great at anything haha

wish i had the pics to post, but i dont. I previously owned both a 1985 blue toyota pickup and then traded that for a 1990 red extracab (i think thats what they were called back then), Both bought new. if i remember correctly they were around 12k.I loved those trucks and really wanted another toyota someday. now driving a tundra obviously and feel like a kid once again. Oh what a feeling.

Here’s my previous 2006 Tacoma. Bought it in 2007 with 12,000 miles on it. Fantastic truck!! I put 196,000 miles on it and all that was done was rebuilt the alternator. I sold it in May of this year because my kids had outgrow the back seat. I hauled with it,towed with it, had it off-road and it never once let me down. I’m loving my 2015 Tundra but there is that small part of my heart the still loves that taco.

I think I put as much as 4 people in here. I also had a Tacoma in early 2000 but have to get a SUV due to kids.

Oh man that red is cool!

While I have never officially “owned” a Tacoma, I have always liked the lines of them. I can say that I have owned the pre-Tacoma’s like @bassman417 referred to earlier. In fact, I have a ‘90 ExtraCab 4x4 that is being redone in 6V7 paint and will be undergoing a 3.4 conversion.

    Early pics...

I’ve got 3 that come to mind - my senior year of high school I got a 9C1 Chevy Caprice with an LT1 Corvette engine. Probably not the best choice for a 17 year old but I drove that car for 4 years and never got a ticket because every cop I passed thought I was a cop.
    upload_2020-9-10_22-46-41.jpg

Next was a 2008 FJ that I had to sell so I could fit 3 kids with two car seats in the vehicle. Loved everything about the FJ other than not being able to see anything out the sides or back.
    6EB09E2B-52B2-4158-8753-F10F902775DE.jpg

More recently I drove a GX470 and that vehicle sealed the deal on me being a “Toyota” guy. Picked up the truck with 120k miles on it performed great other than being a little small to pull 6,500 lbs of boat , trailer, and gear plus wife and 3 kids inside. I’d definitely get another GX in the future.

‘84 or ‘85? It sure looked sharp and the decals were certainly different.
I had an ‘87 like this in a charcoal color. I had always wanted to trick it out black like the one from Back to the Future...

That was a nice looking FJ! I almost got one. I had gone to the dealer the night before and decided on it, ready to pull the trigger the next morning when I caught a glimpse of a Cavalry Blue Tundra...

I have zero experience with the GX’s. I do hear a lot about them though.

What signature or decal sat above the door badge?

My first truck was this '96 4WD SR5 T100, it was an awesome truck that I eventually & reluctantly replaced with the '02 4WD SR5 Tundra that I am still driving today. I sold the T100 locally and I will see it in traffic from time to time... she still looks great.

The last two are what I currently have. If the new Tundra is good I will be jumping on one of those once the kinks are worked out.

I miss my blue Tundra and wish I never sold it.
