My round trip commute to/from work is about 105 miles, so when I drive the truck, I rack up the mileage pretty quickly. Makes me a good "tester."

Normally, we take my wife's EV for the commute but it's been snowing enough here that we've used the truck for commuting since I had the TSB work performed on 12/29.

Performed the TSB update a couple of days ago and seems to fix the clunking issue. I need to drive it more to get a feel if the surging is gone.

This makes me happy to hear that they seem to have addressed this. I printed out the TSB's and will have them on hand for my 5K check up. I love this truck and I expected issues, but I also expect solutions to those issues from Toyota on a relatively swift turn around.

After driving 100 miles after the TSB was performed, I have to say that the shifting/turbo combo is much, much improved. Shifting feels much more decisive in city and highway driving. Clunk is gone.

Just had the 1 year service and asked for the TSB's for clunk & hesitation to be performed. So far all good.

Just had this done yesterday. The bit of stop and go driving after and on the drive to work this am, I have to say the truck drives much more predictably. Throttle response is immediate. Service advisor was skeptical when I dropped it off but the tech drove it, felt the hesitation, and performed the procedure called out in the TSB. Even more fun to drive now... just have to warn my wife.

This is awesome, so glad this TSB has been working for everyone! This has been my biggest annoyance so I was hoping this wouldn't turn into the Tacoma shift logic issue, where it was addressed years later

I picked up my 2023 on 1/18 and have thus far not experienced what is described in this thread. Compared to my 17' Silverado with the 5.3L and terrible 8 speed tranny, the throttle response and smoothness of the Tundra makes me incredibly happy thus far. One would hope that this shouldn't be an issue going forward with new trucks.

Just picked up my 1794 after the TSB, throttle lag is gone and I can actually feel personally of my truck now. Before it was like Push the gas, wait, something starts driving... Now it's instant and responsive :)

Tried to get this done at the dealership and they have not heard of it/does not come up in the system. I gave them the TSB number as well. Said to call back in a couple weeks and they might have more information.

Do we know if this TSB has been implemented into the production line, and if so, when? IOW what VINs does it apply to?

If I read this correctly it looks like mine was built a little too early to get this in production. It lists 5TFLA5DB#PX065936 as the beginning and I am 5TFLA5DAxxxxxxx. Assuming 5DA comes before 5DB. Missed it by that much.

D'ooohhh. I missed that somehow. Looks like I am good to go. I am 067xxx :)

Thanks for posting these TSBs. I need to go through them in more detail and see if I have any outstanding.

Yea I took this one in and showed them today. They said they havent heard of it and nothing is coming up. I may be reading the PRODUCTION CHANGE EFFECTIVE VIN number incorrectly though and it is not out for mine yet.

My local dealership (Crown Toyota in Southern California) said they'll charge me $150 if they don't find an issue with the vehicle. If they do find the issue through the test drive they will not charge me. Really upsetting that I have to gamble on the fact that they will "diagnose" this issue when there's already a TSB out for this. Driving in sport mode definitely helps but I hate having to remember to switch it to sport mode every time I turn the truck on.

I'm actually not far from Longo. Are they more accepting to these types of things? I've brokered cars from there in the past. Crown Toyota is under new ownership so I guess they're implementing some new rules. Corporate told me that because Toyota Dealerships are independently owned they are allowed to charge diagnosis fees. I've owned Toyotas all my life and it's ironic that the first new one and most expensive one I own is the one that gives me headaches. I still love the truck and I understand that first model years will have quirks. It's just frustrating that I know there's a fix, but I have to fight a service writer who doesn't know anything about the truck. Might as well talk to a robot at this point. When the service writer told me "well you know CVTs drive very differently, maybe you just need to get used to it" I knew that I was going to get nowhere with him. :annoyed:

Sorry to hear this! Yes please go to another dealership...

This reminds me of my previous ram dealer, one of the reasons I didn't got a new ram

Circling back here after about 2 tanks of gas post-flash and unfortunately the software update hasn't resolved my lag/surge issues. The issue was much improved for about half a tank after the update, then seemed as though issues crept back into the daily drive thereafter. There's still minor improvement from how the truck was driving before, especially in higher gears (over about 40mph) but disappointed to say this hasn't resolved my issues. Sincerely hope others are having better luck.

for grins I would try and take the neg battery cable off for a while and reset the thing, it can’t hurt unless there is something with this new truck that is different

Irony is that I was considering doing that in post #1. Eventually did without any success, but might as well give it another shot.

I've been using eco mode after the pcm update. I mostly drive around city.

I found that eco mode is more measured in response and more smooth around city, less jerky than normal mode.

So you recommend not to use eco mode after the TSB update? For how long? Do I need to reset it if I've been driving it for a couple weeks in eco?

Got it. Yeah my city mpg in eco is brutal, 12mpg! And I drive slowly and smoothy, not accelerating fast. I'll try normal mode more
