I've used the black liquid wax and it's not bad, pretention longevity is the issue. Doesn't last near as long as other sealants out there

Meguiar's makes good stuff. I am sure its good as well. Key is to apply a few times a year, stay away from (brush type) car washes, and use a good car wash soap when washing.

Currently use Tech 2.0 with great results.

I use it with Ultimate Fast Finish and it lasts pretty well. A while back I used Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash to strip off the ULW and UFF and found, to my amazement, that it still beaded really well. I also follow each wash with Ultimate Quik Wax/Synthetic X-Press Wax.

OK, thanks for the input, i appreciate it. Whatever crap they sprayed on at the dealership has completely washed off, so I'll give this a go and see how it works out. ;)

Megs Ultimate Liquid Wax is not actually wax...it's a polymer based sealant. I've since moved on to other sealants, but when I used it, it had very good longevity and very good gloss. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the color of my truck looked muted and lacked depth, which can be typical of some sealants. Topping it with a carnuba based product, in my case Pinnacle Sovereign paste wax, improved that issue somewhat.

I read or heard somewhere that some companies market sealants as waxes. It’s because the average consumer doesn’t know what a sealant is, but everyone knows what wax is.

I believe I’ve read the same directly from Meguiar’s about a few of their products. If I remember correctly it was the NXT 2.0 and maybe one of the ultimate line waxes. I use the NXT wax also, and Meg’s made it sound more like a hybrid of a wax and sealant.

This is my experience too, much easier and faster to apply than my typical mother’s carnuba wax, just doesn’t do quite as well of a job and doesn’t last as long.

It makes sense. I was doing a couple of trucks for some guys earlier this year while on a trip. There were about a dozen people hanging out while I was doing it, and I could not get it through their heads that I was applying sealants, not waxes. I gave up correcting them eventually.

Since they’re actually giving you a product that’s better than advertised, nobody is going to call them out on it.

X2 on the turtle wax ice, it isn't your dads turtle wax. I also like that you can use it on plastic trim without it turning white.
