I never ever ever have a 3rd person up front in my 3Rd gen DC and I have a ton of unnecessary space I can't find a solution for.

    20170429_182834.jpg

I want a good looking console (per say) that I can store stuff in, attach things to, mount a switch pro, and contain my pocket goodies.

Are there any bench seat owners that have developed/purchased something of the sort? My fab skills are not developed enough to tackle a goody box I have to look at every time I get in the truck.

Solutions and ideas are very encouraged.....please

Where was that post again where everyone was getting offers from their dealers????????????????

Pretty sure if they got me close i would pull the trigger but no way they would pay me for what i've already done. Aftermarket mods never get recouped unless it's exactly what they are looking for

This won't fit there will it? If it does, I have an extra one I can sell you.

If you want a console why didn't you just buy a limited trd?

because i paid 32K for a DC TRD. I can live without a console for that price

I'm trying to find something that fits and doesn't cost me the extra 12K that a limited would

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
In the rear of my Tacoma there was a hump like that where I built a sub box with downward facing sub. Could do that and also add some storage compartments and cup holders to the top. Stir your drinks while bumping the bass

That's why I bought a very slightly used (9000 miles)one with the pwr bucket seats and console shifter. As well as some other nice features.I would not have been happy with the bench seat. I had to have the per seat for my long ass legs. I just paid the registration on my one yr old(to me)truck, $256! Monthly payment of $350. No way I was spending $40K and being broke all the time.

But about the wasted space. Fab something up out of wood or sheet metal and wrap it in carpet or leather. Pay some custom interior shop, can't take the money with you!

subs are in the back and gonna stay there...but...you got me thinking. I'm gonna color match the carpet the best i can and build a custom sub box without the sub that has a side door for my stuff and a cut out tray on top for phone mount and potentially a switch pro when the electrical mods get rolling.

The box could have a little curvature to sit flush and some braces inside. It'll sit below the usb and charging ports...or not..and run power from the charging ports into the box.

    Thanks for the ideas Brian.

By the way...i'm a shaken, not stirred kinda guy!! But if i had some bass to do the work for me even better

Is it really a mid life crisis or just a nasty divorce? Don't let the biotch take you down man. Stay strong and try to keep your head in the game.

Sorry to inform you but if you look at the description it's reffered to as a split bench. But it does give you a project to work on. Maybe get some mdf to fab up a nice console. Make a model with cardboard first. Start with the measurements you think are going to work. Trim the cardboard to fit and if it doesn't throw it away and try again until you're happy with it. Then make the finished product.

Glad to hear that you are not getting screwed in the divorce. She must be pretty fucked up for the judge to give you the kids.

The description is wrong!! I can call it what i want and i choose not to refer to it as a bench seat. That sounds really lame

Anyway, i'll hopefully get started tomorrow but it's been so cold and hammering snow so i'm not sure much will get done.

And yes, you're right.. the judge made the right choice. I'm a good dude and she's not

I thought about that too, but you would have to mount it on a milk crate. The floor is way down there, you might wreck reaching for your coffee.

I walked in to NAPA the other day and asked where the "consoles" were and the guy pointed me over to that one and me and my son laughed out loud.

I would put it in a work vehicle but not my baby

Yeah it's not very attractive either. But I wouldn't put any drinks in there anyways, it would be more for throwing my phone in there and keeping the charging cords organized. I'd probably keep my cupholder coin holder in it pen and paper. Basically stuff you don't necessarily need while you're driving but have quick access, instead of opening up the console to grab something.

Typical bench seats move all as one unit. These are more like transformer seats. Because the passenger and driver seat move independently of the center. Our center console just happens to fold up into a seat being more awesome.

Yeah, technically it's a hybrid BENCH. Not bad, just not for me. Couldn't get comfortable with my long legs with the limited adjustability. Plus, I was sick of the column shift. Shifting in a mode is way nicer with the console shifter.

Great perspective!! We have transformer trucks...it just doesn't transform into anything cool

I'm gonna do something cool...just not sure what that is yet.
