I bought my 14 Tundra new in 2014. I was initially on Tundra Talk when I got info for mods I was doing at the time. Since then I put all my money and effort into my vette (money pit).

Tundra Talk doesn’t really seem active anymore so I found this forum. After spending the day reading now I’m going to check for cam tower leaks and other problems that have me paranoid. I was so happy I had one reliable vehicle

LOL - yea, it’s freaked everyone the F out - but for *somewhat* good reason. New rigs shouldn’t be leaking. The leak has been around since the beggining of the second Gen Tundra. It’s just been over-exposed as of late. The good thing is, it’s not some horrible leak that is going to cause your shit to fall out the bottom on the freeway. Even with the new Tundra vehicles leaking - they probably would leak less than a Furd/Dodge/Cheb after they all hit the 40K mile mark.
There are a very very small handful of people that had such a bad leak that they could smell the oil or see any smoke.
Other vehicles/MFG’s are plagued with much worse issues. Even with a small oil leak your 5.7 will run 200K+ miles.
Can’t say that for most of the others out there.
Even if I did have a small leak (I’m around 60K miles) I wouldn’t freak out. From many of the pictures I’ve seen, I’m surprised Toyota is fixing so many.
    (Hopefully Toyota doesn’t read this)

Someone should start snapping pics of other MFG’s “leaks” and see what they come up with LOL.

Would you prefer to not know about potential issues? At least if you know there’s a potential bogey man out there, you can manage around it...

to put it into perspective, since 2012 over 600,000 tundra's are on the road, and around 80K Sequia's. Guessing that we can say around 500K are on the road with the 5.6L engine.

That petition over the last year has less than 3000 signatures and it's been heavily pushed. So that's roughly .6% impact that's been documented. let's just say for arguments sake you can double that number, even triple it. Is it worth losing sleep over?

    Welcome!
Don't be alarmed by the potential cam tower leak. At least you know that it is probably the only issue that is out there, and only a small percentage of people actually get that.
Co-workers and friends with Fords, Chevys and Rams have all kinds of crap they have to deal with every day. One co-worker bought his Ford 2 months before I bought my truck - It has been in for 3 recalls and 2 other repairs. Another co-worker with a Ram Power Wagon (nice looking truck) had it towed in at least twice in the last year - the last time the dealer had it for 3 weeks trying to get it fixed.
You still have a reliable truck! Enjoy it.

I know right! I was going to leave my truck stock. That was out the window thousands of dollars ago. And it still is nothing special compared to some of the trucks around here.

Welcome to the site. All forums will scare you. As far as Toyotas that I have owned, my Tundra has been the most troublesome of all of them - my other Yotas (2 4Runners and a Tercel) gave me zero problems. But, overall, my Tundra hasn't been too bad. I had the notorious Cam Tower leak (fixed by Toyota, and they also gave me a free 100,000 mile warranty out of that), I have had to replace all of my front ball joints, and the serp belt tensioner. Other than that, I haven't had any problems.

Wow... this forum is really active. Seems like a bunch of great guys. Appreciate all the welcomes. I’m in Staten Island, NY.

It looks like I do have the cam tower leak. I’m at 55k miles right now, so I should be able to get it repaired if I go that route. I hate the idea of them opening up the motor. Just went through putting a whole new motor in my vette and it still doesn’t seem right. I know how reliable the Tundra is, that’s why I got it. I’ve had zero issues with it so far. I love my truck.

I thought I was done with the mods lol but already ordered something from a vendor on the site. You guys are bad for my wallet lol I’ll try to load a picture.
