We've got a '12. Wish I'd bought a 4R, but whatever. The Highlander doesn't have any more room inside, and I'd be more inclined to leave the truck at home and drive her car if it was....cooler.

Wife has a 18 highland and loves it. I think it is just OK. Coming from a Yukon there just doesn't seem to be enough room.

My daughter bought a '19 Highlander last month and loves it. She went from a CRV to the highlander because of a growing family.

Wife got an '18 Limited Highlander. She racks up the miles and has over 31,000 miles already. No issues so far, rides real nice. Windshield must be thin as there are two cracks in it already, but she also drafts semitrucks in the winter like she's in a Nascar race.

my wife is really short and the dash in the 4Runner didn’t give get a good line of site the way it was shaped or whatever so the highlander was a better fit for her. My knees are in the dash when I drive it I’m sure I would of had more room in the 4Runner but ah well.

That sucks about the windshield I had a rock fly up and chip my trucks windshield like the second week I had it. That’s a respectable amount of miles for a 18 haha!

Wife has a 2006 RX330. Rolling up 250K. Same thing as a Highlander, but you can't tell her that a Lexus and Toyota are mechanically the same car. Hoping she'll go Rear WD this go round like a 4-Runner. The Front WD is a beast to change the rear valve cover gaskets and spark plugs.

I just took some very hard looks at the new highlander and the new RAV4. Both in hybrid models due to them being high mileage vehicles. Both are excellent vehicles. I even read that not long ago the hybrid Rav outsold the Prius for the first time. The highlander limited is awesome for that person who can’t commit to the Sienna lifestyle. It was funny how the new models all had tech and CarPlay and apps for your phone for everything and I would walk to my 2019 Tundra and laugh and say it has auto locking doors.

My wife has a 15 limited. She loves it. She changes cars every couple of years (6 in 9 years) but said she's holding on to this one. We will see if that plays out.

Am I crazy but the highlander is much more roomy inside than a 4runner, right? I don't get all the comments about the 4runner being roomier. They are definitely cooler looking and more rugged but pretty cramped and very truck like as far as ride and comfort goes. I have been in both, and the 4runner felt no bigger inside than my Tacoma double cab. GF has a 13 highlander and it's very roomy compared to the 11, and 17 4runners I have been in, especially with car seats for kids installed. The 4runner front passenger seat can't be slid back far or reclined much at all whereas the highlander can be comfortable for the front passenger

I can’t say for sure since I personally didn’t even hop in the 4Runner when we were looking since we were shopping for her and she couldn’t see over the dash comfortably in the runner. That was a no go for me at the point. I just figured since the outside to me looked bigger it would have more room but I could be wrong. Looks can be deceiving though the Camry is what we originally went too look at and inside of it was tiny even though they looked like decent size cars with the new body style.

I was trying to get my wife into a highlander but she doesn’t like it for some reason and it has more room than the Lexus 350 she wants

Nice! We have a 2019 Highlander as well and love it. It took some getting used to the 8sp transmission, but once you figure out what it wants to do it's pretty nice.

We have a 2017 Highlander that my wife loves. Were a little back and forth between that and a 4 Runner, but she ended up preferring the ride in the Highlander and made more sense for it's intended purpose. I've been toying with putting some black Method 502's and Falken A/T Trail tires on it. #wifemods

What is the front seat sitting position like in the new ('18, '19) Highlanders? I've got a '16 Corolla (for the daughter) and that damn thing is like sitting in a space ship waiting for launch.

My wife wanted a nicer car for herself since her Sequoia was smashed last month.
We kept the Sequoia , i added some OME springs and new shocks all around , so we still have the family truckster for road trips and teaching the younger ones how to drive.
My step dad has a 19 4Runner and there is considerably less room in it than the Highlander.

I talked my GF into Michelin defenders on her highlander. 50k miles and they look new. She's hard on tires, maniac driver lol.

I wouldnt call the 4Runner "roomy". I can fit in the back seat pretty confortably and im only 5-11 200#. But , the Highlander has 2nd row captains chairs that slide back and forth and recline.
Then it also has the 3rd row seats , which i had to squeeze into , but i could ride there for a short trip if i was drunk enough.

From what I saw, the third row highlander definitely has more room than a four runner with third row seats. I’m sure there is a chart with exact cubic feet on the website. The highlander third row seats are good for kids that are in a booster seat age or weight up to middle school. After that, they would possibly be too large for that third row. That’s when you go Sienna or Sequoia.

My wife just went from a 2015 to a 2019 Highlander. I’ve driven it a few times and it’s comfortable and rides great. The 8 speed transmission is definitely a change, and I was just found out about the engine start/stop technology.

The RAV4 went through a total redesign and while looking at 2019 highlanders the dealer “said” the 2020 highlander was getting a redesign also. Again. A dealer. So take that for about as much value as a dry fart.

We have a ‘15 Highlander and love it. It was our “big” car before we bought the Tundra lol. It’s still our vehicle of choice on long trips or when going into the city. It’s just comfortable to drive and ride in. Also I agree with others, I think the Highlander is bigger inside than the 4R. That, and all the extra creature comforts, are why we chose the Highlander over the 4R. Our most recent trips to the snow have also proven it to be quite capable.
