    A LOT... NEVER ENDS
I try really hard at this whole "adult" thing and being responsible but I have to be honest, you guys here make me want to upgrade my rig almost daily. Every time I make my mind up on keeping what I have until is wears out then upgrade accordingly. Some jerk with a jacked up tundra posts on here and/or parks next to me and gets my mind going again :annoyed:

Who else feels this site makes it REALLY hard to be responsible. The struggle is real.

Only thing going for being responsible is my wife helps keep me from impulse spending when I get all getty (shes the little devil on my shoulder saying do it and see what happens lol).

Credit limits, mortgages, and significant others stop most of that shit from happening.

The only reasonable thing to do is spread out the money. It wont sting as bad. Here's what I do,

    Tundra mods and paraphernalia
    Guns and paraphernalia
Ceegars (most folks pronounce it cigars)
    Beer

When you feel or have been told you're spending too much on one, switch it up.

I bought my first new truck in 2003. Never joined a forum. In eight years of driving it, I added a tool box.

Bought my first Tundra in 2011. Never joined a forum. In six years of driving it, I added tail lights, running boards, and a 400 dollar speaker upgrade.

I bought my current one in 2017, and joined this site a month later. I probably could’ve bought another car with what I’ve spent since then.

No bf or husband to answer to or hold me back.

But I am accountable for myself! After having to spend 5 years with no credit cards at all and paying off credit card bills that I had in debt consolidation, I learned to pay for what I need or want. With exception of home and the Tundra, I pay cash or debit, and if it's credit I make sure I pay it off within 3 payments or I don't spend it.

I too am struggling with the mod / part list growing, but it's a process....am in no hurry, will do it when the money's there.

I bought RCI side steps, skid plates, weatherguard tool box, locker down vaults front and back and tools to change the oil.
My question is do you really need it or do you just want to be like some dude you seen on a forum?

I played the hurry up and do it all within a year game. The benefit to that is, i have a huge smile even just thinking about how sexy and badass the truck is.

I may have gone overboard on my lights but last time i went hunting i hit a hog and got stuck in the mud. So im glad i had my front bumper and skids, as well as my winch. So i would say i might not have needed it but sure am glad i had it.

I have always enjoyed making my trucks unique to me and my tastes...

With that said, I make sure that my wife has everything she needs/wants first. Then I can pretty much do whatever I want without any need for approval, or have to listen to any bullshit about "why do you need that".

The forum has been the best way for me to see what others are doing and wether or not I like it is up to me. There is no better resources for like-minded Tundra owners to share pros and cons of mods, as well as the pure love to help a brother out when trouble may arise. I have modded my truck better because of this forum than I could have ever done on my own. I don't know if it "makes" me spend more, or just that the money is better spent having some references! So, thanks to everyone for helping me spend my money the best way I can...

This right here! I used to keep up with the 3rd gen thread. Then, after on-line Shenanigans with SoCal members led to Real World meet-and-plays in dirt, I moved to build threads... then bought a 1st gen for off-roading... then met a guy through the forum that knows a few things about building trucks... so now we're gonna build it long-travel....

    WHERE'S THE SNOWBALL EMOJI??

Anyway, these days I keep up with the What Have You Done to Your 1st Gen thread, but I've had to stop checking the 3rd Gen thread. I can't afford to read both.

Her go to phrase "I don't want you to ruin your truck by doing an impulse buy, think about it for a week and then we'll talk"

Fun fact that's code for saying think about how dumb it is to waste money on your truck... she's a BFM so she likes purchases to have a return on investment

Buying a vehicle is not an investment. The minute it leaves the lot it decrease in value.

    Site is killing me.
I did good in the 1st year after upgrading from 2006DC with cap to 2017 Limited CM. The last 2 months I spent on here daily to the cost of thousands and rising every time the UPS or FedEx truck rolls by.

What is this need of which you speak? lol

I just finished everything I wanted to do to the truck in the 1st 90 days... super modest upgrade, just the wheels and tires I wanted, no lift a bed mat and a rack for my kayak and my mandatory chargers sticker… Done, Admittedly there are some modifications on here that catch my eye, But this rig is by far the nicest I’ve ever owned as it is

True but a vehicle is a necessity to get to and from work, store, etc. and that is a totally different discussion from what this threads covering. I just wanted a place to vent about how adulting makes me not upgrade my truck parts or truck as a whole for a new 2019, not how vehicles are such a horrible investment (totally agree and hints to why they invented GAP insurance).......... But since you brought it up... everyone needs a truck if you own a house or depend on someone who does have a truck. In this vent thread it's modifications that she deems to be a bad investment (she does agree vehicles are a bad investment FYI lol), when my truck is fully functional with no issues.

Buying a vehicle is like eating the Standard American Diet, it makes you happy but is bad for you.

This site influences bad habits for people like me.... In my case, I bicker with my wife on wanting to buy things for my truck... hahaha sad to admit she always wins

Yes I know, stay off the site then right? If someone says don't look down, I bet everyone will look down.
