    Hello all,

I love buying new vehicles and I am grateful that I can afford to do so. My first new car was 2002 4Runner Sport Edition - bought for my newly married wife but she only drove it for 2 months or so because it is rough and big and she likes her 1995 Maxima better. Since then I have bought 3 more Toyotas and 4 Lexus. So 8 cars in 14 years...I need to STOP.

New cars, new smells, and new joys are great but these feeling immediately stopped the day I walk into my DMV office. As of this morning I am $3000 poorer...I know we all need to pay sales tax but man these stuffs HURT.... Beside the sales tax, the state of NE happily charge me $750 for Vehicle Tax. WTF is this? Also, there are many many other fees like registration fee, Plate fee, wheel tax....

Also, my Lexus is 2 years old and to get the new plate sticker (they call it Annual Plate Renewal) they charge me $824.50, Huh? I paid over $4000 to registered this SUV in 2014, in 2015 renewal it was over $1000. I'll be on the hook again next year for the truck...arrggggg I'm so stupid....I should have bought a bicycle and ride to work in the snow (no, this is stupid-er)...

    /vent.

When I saw TTL the first thought in my mind was Transistor-Transistor Logic. When I bought my 2008 last year I paid over $2000 to the People's Republic of California (PRC).

yep...the higher the price tag on the showroom..the more $$ in the state pockets. People often forget about it b/c so pumped about the new car.

if you itemize, you can write off all the car related taxes on your tax return.
